Dexter's lab

toomuchfaster · 03/05/2021 08:25

My nephew is Dexter and he is awesome!! It suits him completely and I don't think of serial killers, dogs or laboratorys now.

takemetomiami · 03/05/2021 07:52

To me it's a dog name, or the name of a serial killer.

YawningMumma · 03/05/2021 07:51

I love it so much. One of my friends has a 5 year old son named Dexter - we usually call him Dex. Suits him and I never think of the TV show despite having watched it all. Go for it!!

4weekstogo · 03/05/2021 07:46

I've never seen the tv show but from what I hear he's quite a nice serial killer so it doesn't put me off - I also know of 2 dogs called Dexter but I also know dogs called Dave Gary and Eric 😂😂😂 I think it's awesome when dogs have proper people names

I have a Dexter Miles aged 16. Born before the TV series! Never had another one all the way through school and I couldn't imagine him with any other name! Team Dexter all the way-he calls himself Dex now he's older, Dexie when he was younger.

SkiingIsHeaven · 02/05/2021 20:20

Really sorry but I think either dog or lovable serial killer.

littlejalapeno · 02/05/2021 20:15

Serial killer and high-stress cartoon scientist

Gwenhines · 02/05/2021 19:58

Dog and serial killer jump into my mind as soon as I hear Dexter. Both max and Dexter are dogs we had 15 and 25 years ago.

drpet49 · 02/05/2021 19:55

Dog and tv show

Mylittlepony374 · 02/05/2021 19:54

Serial Killer

JustanotherTuesday · 02/05/2021 19:52

I really like it. It's a bit different but not too weird. I don't know any boys or dogs called that Smile

Howshouldibehave · 02/05/2021 19:50

@Temp023

Sinister..
Grin

Reminds me of Frankie Howerd marching the army in Up Pompeii!

OP-my friend’s cat is called Dexter! Lovely cat, lovely name. I do hear it more on animals than people though-I think that would put me off.

mrscee · 02/05/2021 19:46

And he is named after the tv show we loved Watching Dexter when I was pregnant.

mrscee · 02/05/2021 19:45

Love it, my 11 year old son is called Dexter. It's not too popular and he's the only one in his school.

4weekstogo · 02/05/2021 19:43

@diddlediddle we do really like Max as well but we can't use it unfortunately

BramStoker · 02/05/2021 18:42

I really like it BUT I wouldn't personally use it right now because of its huge popularity for Dogs (and humans) in the past 5 years or so

10 years ago I would have definitely said go for it but it feels a but too 'trendy' now

Anibas · 02/05/2021 18:38

Like it! Yes, people of a certain age might make a connection to the serial killer show or the cartoon, but if you like it who cares.

diddlediddle · 02/05/2021 16:11

Theoretically it should be fine but I just find it an unpleasant name. It sounds really aggressive to me somehow.

If you want an X what about Xander, Felix, Max

ode2me · 30/04/2021 15:09

DEE DEE!Wink

Flymetothestars · 30/04/2021 15:04

I love it!!!

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 30/04/2021 14:57

I think of the serial killer or the laboratory

VenusClapTrap · 30/04/2021 10:47

It’s a no from me.

lovelsa · 30/04/2021 10:21

My friend named their little boy Dexter and I really didn't like it when they told me what they were calling him; I just thought of the serial killer show. But now that he is a cheeky little 6 year old, it suits him perfectly and when I hear Dexter I just think of him.
