Tricia. (As the official name, not a nickname for Patricia or Beatrice. Pronunciation is same as Trisha.)

and what would be good middle names for it?

Tricia is a nickname for Patricia

CoffeeChocolateGin · 25/04/2021 20:07

Reminds me of the talk show host. It's not particularly elegant. (I feel bad saying that...I'm so sorry!)

Ikeameatballs · 25/04/2021 20:02

I’d assume it was a nn for Patricia.

WeatherwaxOn · 25/04/2021 20:01

As a nickname, fine. As a full name, no. As others have said, go for Beatrice or Patricia (or other appropriate names) on the birth certificate.

I know someone who has a nickname name and they loathe it, they only ever go by the full version of the name, even though it isn't their actual name.

custardbear · 25/04/2021 19:59

Reminds me of Tricia Yates off Grange Hill - not a fan, sorry

partyatthepalace · 25/04/2021 19:58

It’s grim - 1960-80s and v down market

Patricia has got a certain mid century charm, I am sure it will be back soon - Tricia I doubt it.

MajorNeville · 25/04/2021 17:51

@Sandgrown1970 calm down dear, lol

Sandgrown1970 · 25/04/2021 17:34

@stillcrazyafterall

All those saying it's a woman in her 50s are a generation out! I'm in my 60s - my mother was a Patricia and she was born in the 30s. Never knew a Patricia when I was growing up!
My cousin, who I mentioned is bang on 50. I don’t have a time machine to make her be born 20 years earlier! I do know a lot of Patricias in their 50s and 60s and only one really elderly one, I can’t help it that that’s how I think of the name. It’s been around as a name for 100s of years and was still in the top 100 in the 70s.
merryhouse · 25/04/2021 17:34

I'm 51.

One of the boys in my class had an older sister called Patsy, which I assume was a shortening of Patricia.

I went to tap class with a girl a year or so younger than me called Tricia.

In my early twenties I had a job with a boss's boss called Patricia - I imagine she'd be early to mid 60s now.

It's not a name Of The Moment, but let's face it, ten years ago Violet was quite out there, and back in 1990 Emily and Hannah were hideously old-fashioned. People saying how horrible it is are suffering from the same affliction as the fashion victims on S&B Grin

jellyfishinatent · 25/04/2021 17:30

How about Tessa? Smile

proopher · 25/04/2021 17:26

I think it's really awful.

MajorNeville · 25/04/2021 17:22

Everyone is saying it's the and of her woman in her mid-fifties but I'm 54 and I don't know anyone my age with it, I associate it with mid-sixties at the least.

LubaLuca · 25/04/2021 17:18

It's awful. Patricia is less awful.

Spied · 25/04/2021 17:16

Bloody awful- just like the ones I've met.
My first thought was the old bike who used to sh*g the young lads in our town.

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2021 17:13

Reminds me of Trisha on Corrie.

PotionNotion · 25/04/2021 17:12

@CagneyNYPD

Tricia is married to Mick and they live in a 3 bed semi near Epping. She is a supervisor at the local branch of Santander. Best friends with Sandra and Sue. Tricia is in her mid 50s and enjoys a cheeky glass of Prosecco after her pilates class.

I think she works on the make up counter in boots and wears a lot of blusher.

TatianaBis · 25/04/2021 17:12

Awfully dated. My mother’s generation had lots of Patricias - Pat, Patty, Tricia, Trish.

Even in the 80s it was dated - Trisha Yates.

@CagneyNYPD spot on!

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2021 16:52

You’re not thinking of naming your daughter it op?

There are so many beautiful names out there. I’d recommend picking another

No offence to anyone actually named Tricia.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/04/2021 16:51

It’s my MIL’s name. I associate it with older women. DD’s middle name is Patricia after her grandmother and great-grandmother - I quite like Patricia but not Tricia or Pat!

BackforGood · 25/04/2021 16:49

I would assume it was short for Patricia.
I'm not too keen on giving a child a shortened version of a name without giving them the option of using the full name, should they so choose.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 25/04/2021 16:47

Nope

FizzyApricot · 25/04/2021 16:46

I would assume it's a shortening.
I would think Trisha was a name.
I wouldn't use it.
