Is this name still hated on MN?
Do you associate it as old man trend or just too popular?
Please help me decide, my other half loves it as it is an old family name

It's lovely, for a pet.

Beetlewing · 25/04/2021 15:40

I don't like it. I was a bit whoa when Harry and Meghan chose it for their firstborn

Tbortb · 25/04/2021 15:31

I love it! If you like it, go for it.

Violetlavenders · 25/04/2021 15:31

Personally I don't like Alfie of Archie.

sarah13xx · 25/04/2021 15:29

I like it 😊 I think it’s definitely got much more popular since Meghan and Harry used it. Alfie is also lovely

Iamstrugglingtopick · 25/04/2021 15:24

Thank you. It is not popular around me saying that thought surely names become popular because people think they are nice?

I dislike it very much.

The Arch sound isn't nice and the -ie ending is so cutesy.

Archibald is ugly too imo.

I like it. I wouldn’t choose or discard a name based on what Mumsnet thinks of it. Unless you’re called Emily, Charlotte, Arthur or Thomas, you’ll be saddling your child with an awful name, for life. And it better have several nicknames and one of the above as middle names so the kid has options! Archie is nice, don’t sweat it.

PegPeople · 25/04/2021 15:17

I don't dislike it but it's grown in popularity swiftly it's absolutely everywhere where I live. I'm honestly not exaggerating when I say almost every little boy we meet at the park is called Archie, Alfie, Arlo or Albie.

DramaAlpaca · 25/04/2021 15:16

Well, I dislike both 'old man' names and cutesy names so it's always a big no from me.

Iamstrugglingtopick · 25/04/2021 15:13

I actually quite like it myself it just always seems to be a name that gets a bad reaction on here

I don’t hate it... I have a friend with a five year old called Archie, people seem to like his name.

He now likes to tell people the Prince borrowed his name Grin

There’s going to be people who like or hate any name, but there’s nothing inherently awful about Archie.
