@Rockpainting Erin's cousin is Olivia. The names sound really good together 🙂 Cara is pretty! Yeah we both have Irish parents but we're born here, so nice to have some kind of link to our history, even as a mn. The name I've actually liked for a while is Lucy Aisling / Lucy Iris - Both middle names are family names

@Incognitool again, her name is Erin. That's like saying you may as well call me shrub because my name's Holly... Pointless catty comments really. Have a nice day though 😊

NC for this.

I have an Erin. She's Erin Olivia. I know of another Erin Olivia also!

My family is Irish, DH's are from NZ. So we wanted something that was meaningful but would also work with the NZ family. Obviously we love it Grin. It is a nice change from all of the Avas / Evas / Isabellas / Gracies / Millies who are around the same age (there are very many!).

Other names I loved:

Cara
Cora
Tara
Astrid
Margot
Sylvie
Freya
Ciara
Alida (family name, may have used as middle name)

I think of The Walton's when I hear the name Erin. Their other daughters were Elizabeth and Mary Ellen.
I do like the name Erin btw!

ILoveStickers · 23/04/2021 09:11

Don't listen to them, Erin's been in or near the top 50 names in Ireland for 20 years!

I think there's some lovely suggestions on the thread - I'd like to add Maria.

@Pudding01

Well no, but I didn't call my kid Ireland either, did I. It's Erin lol

Maybe it should be a thing though... We have India etc. Why not Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland 😂😂

I met my first 2 Erin's on a trip to Ireland years ago. A child and an older adult. Thought it was beautiful, obviously.

DDs sisters actually call her Ireland sometimes 😂
FizzyApricot · 23/04/2021 08:31

I like Erin

Would Freya go with it?

SignMyStookie · 23/04/2021 08:29

It's possibly more of a 2nd, or in my case 3rd generation name choice. Personally I wanted a name I could connect to my much loved and missed GF and it's worked for us 🤷‍♀️

FizzyApricot · 23/04/2021 08:15

Slovakia would be a nice name

Ok, it’s like calling your child Italia or Deutschland.

Erin isn’t really used in Ireland, just as children aren’t usually called England in England. It’s an Irish-American thing.

SignMyStookie · 22/04/2021 11:31

I whittled mine down to Erin and Marin to chose between. Very similar names and picked Erin in the end due to the Irish connection. I haven't come across too many either so not too popular I don't think.

FizzyApricot · 22/04/2021 11:26

Love the name Erin by the way.

FizzyApricot · 22/04/2021 11:25

I was going to say Moria, Megan and Enid.

Pudding01 · 22/04/2021 07:43

@babynamelover, you have my name and Erin's middle name in your list 😆

Some lovely names being suggested, a couple that we'd thought about but seeing them come up again has put them back on the list.

Thank you x

@KirstenBlest well I chose Erin, but thanks for your opinion 🙂

I dont see Erin as artsy or posh. I think it is nothingy and harsh sounding. It's not awful.
Merryn is much nicer.

Erin is also a Welsh name so my first thoughts were names like Elin, Mali, Mari, Eira, Nia, Nansi and Lois (Welsh Loyce pronunciation). Orla was my first thought Irish names wise and Ciara.

Otherwise I'd associate Erin with names like:
Tess
Ruth
Beth
Lois (English Low-iss pronunciation)
Jane
Megan/Meg
Leah
Kate
Tara
Emma
Lara/Lyla/Lyra
Laura
Amy
Cara

Pudding01 · 21/04/2021 07:21

Oh and Iris - again maybe a mn

OP posts:
Pudding01 · 21/04/2021 07:21

Thank you for your suggestions 😊

I don't think Erin is artsy or posh, but I do think less common than the current trend and a classic. We have an Irish family, but I was born in the UK, so like the Irish connection but without complicated names, if that makes sense.

I do like Orla, but wondered if it was too Irish.
Fern is nice. Potentially mn.
Lara is pretty.
Aislinn but spelt Aisling (family name) is an option for a mn at the moment.
Isla I keep dipping in and out of liking.
Love Robin/Robyn. Fn or mn - unsure.

I like Lucy.
