I heard the name Anaveah today (Anna-vay-ah). What do you all think of it, totally unique but I fell in love straight away?

I would guess the parents had taken two "real" names (Spanish Ana and Greek Vaia?) and smooshed them together ala Renesmee in the Twilight books - so I think unfortunately that sort of invented name does have a bit of a downmarket image.

However the sound of Anaveah is very pretty, so maybe consider the Scandi Linnea (Li -nay -ah) instead?

KirstenBlest · 20/04/2021 12:30

Anevaeh.

YoniAndGuy · 20/04/2021 12:26

Oh and yes they all sound a bit like medicinal creams, or contraceptive pills, or cars Grin

Those are the other situations where people try very hard to make up amazing new names that sound so new and fresh Grin

YoniAndGuy · 20/04/2021 12:25

Just sounds like another made-up name. Lots of vowels, sort of meandering about, too fussy.

Alaveenah
Lilananah
Nevalarah
Evaleerah
Analilla

They're easy to do, bash out a few more!

Totally meaningless.

KirstenBlest · 20/04/2021 12:22

@eatsleepbreastfeedrepeat, shouldn't it be Anavaeh

How about Anede instead, nn Needy?

emmathedilemma · 20/04/2021 11:53

Awful
Possibly even worse than Garyanne

alexdgr8 · 20/04/2021 00:14

@TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN

Sorry it sounds like a medicine or medicated cream to me.
ditto
dottiedaisee · 20/04/2021 00:11

So the point of your post was ?

steppemum · 19/04/2021 22:41

I think it sounds pretty, but looks and spells awful.

I would find another spelling.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/04/2021 22:35

Sounds like a contraceptive pill.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 19/04/2021 22:31

@Aprilshowersandhail

My hometown isn't exotic..
I was joking...
BackforGood · 19/04/2021 20:32

Awful.
I too thought of the terrible trend of spelling heaven backwards, and would assume the parents had seen that name, not known it was heaven backwards, and added their own little twist.
I would be inwardly rolling my eyes at the parents, feeling sorry for the child, and wondering how was going to attempt to pronounce it.

HumunaHey · 19/04/2021 20:12

FWIW, I like it. Sounds very pretty. But your average MN likes basic names. Anything that's not your generic Poppy, Emily, Gracie seems to blow people's minds on here. It's weird.

eatsleepbreastfeedrepeat · 19/04/2021 19:58

I’m actually not going to use it, we have a name, I was just wondering what people thought.

My youngest has a very marmite name so other people’s opinions don’t bother me too much

Anna-Via or Anne-Ava sound the same but are like, actual real names

Aprilshowersandhail · 19/04/2021 19:58

My hometown isn't exotic..

Thesearmsofmine · 19/04/2021 19:56

Sorry I don’t like it, to me it sounds a bit common.

MazekeenSmith · 19/04/2021 19:55

Sooooooo bad I can't even express how bad
Nevaeh is cheesy as fuck but Aneveah takes it to a whole new level

idrinkchocolatemilk · 19/04/2021 19:53

I think it’s beautiful, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks as long as you like it. Love the pronunciation but hate the spelling x

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 19/04/2021 19:52

@Aprilshowersandhail

My ds is called Loopeltrah... Wink
After place of conception? Very exotic if so Grin

My first thought was that it looks like a medication, then second though Neveah/Heaven backwards and thirdly that some people would read that and pronounce it Anna-veee-ah.

The actual sound is quite pretty.

Anna-Vaya?

ForensicFlossy · 19/04/2021 19:37

She will spend her life having to tell people how to pronounce it and how to spell it.

Edenember · 19/04/2021 19:37

To me it sounds like an ointment, feminine hygiene product or contraceptive pill.

Aprilshowersandhail · 19/04/2021 19:34

Modern twist on Anaglypta?
