Claudia and Sophie for twin girls?

Hi MN, I posted last week about a few names we were considering and think you’re all right; twins with the same initial isn’t really fair considering they’ll be a ‘set’ to many people for most of their lives, so they don’t really need matching initials in the mix as well.

So, we’re thinking Claudia and Sophie are our current picks, with older brother being George. Thoughts? Middle names will be Araminta (Claudia Araminta) and Catherine (Sophie Catherine).

I think Claudia and Sophia sound better. you can always nn sophie

I wouldn't have an "A" name after Claudia, it makes it clumsy to say and forces a glottal stop. I'd choose something that starts with a consonant.

Claudia and Sophie are lovely, though.

I would prefer Sophia to Sophie to make it more balanced looking with Claudia.
Middle names don't have too much of a bearing on a day to day basis, in my view.

@Mumoftwoinprimary

I love

Claudia Elisabeth and Sophie Catherine

They both sound great alone, sound great as a pair and also work as a trio with George.

I agree Smile

Nice

Claudia and Sophie - really lovely

Edenember · 14/04/2021 19:51

Nice choice first names. I’d swap the middles round, even if retaining Catherine with a C.
Claudia Catherine
Sophie Araminta.

Just means they both have a very feminine
-a ending name each, and they both have a very classic name each. More balanced. Just an opinion.

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:46

Claudia Elisabeth (with an s) is another possible option instead of Araminta!

I agree with Aprilshowersandhail , those 2 sets of names have very different feels.
Claudia and Sophia have more similar feel.
Also Claudia Araminta is a lot of 'a' s.

BunTooti · 14/04/2021 19:40

Winkleman?

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:38

I don’t think we consider Claudia to be an adventurous name at all! We also prefer Catherine with a C vs a K as is a little more traditional and we like traditional names.
Big brother is George Theodore.

1 has the safe names and the other more adventurous?
Swap them around?
Claudia Katherine
Sophie Araminta

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:36

Our last name is Scott, for reference.
I think when the whole name is said, it flows ok? Our other option was Alexandra, but we preferred Araminta. Open to suggestions though!

I like both of these names and I like that they are not too obviously "twinny" if you see what I mean. I'm not sure about Araminta as a middle name after a name that ends with A - it's a bit difficult to say!

Ginger1982 · 14/04/2021 19:31

Sophie Catherine is nice but I don't personally like Claudia with Araminta.
