Elowen or Sukie

Susanna - Sukie for short traditional family name or Elowen my current favourite as Xanthe vetoed by the family as doesn’t really go with surname

Both are beautiful names and among my favourites, so I can't really choose between them. Today I'd edge towards Susanna/Sukie.

I have an Elowen, her name is complimented all the time, have never had pronunciation issues and it has never been shortened to 'El' or similar either! Smile

If Susannah is a family name I’d go for that

I like Elowen a lot but it will blur with all the E and El beginning names and she’ll likely end up one of a million Ellies

Susannah is lovely, not keen on Sukie though. Elowen is pretty but will likely become Ellie, of which there are hundreds.

Be prepared for people saying LON, and calling here Ellie. For those reasons I'd pick Lowenna, which I slightly prefer anyway, but both are nice.

I love Sukie! I’m not so keen on Susanna, though. I’d be tempted to use Sukie as her full name.

Elowen. Sunken for me will forever be a cat. But that’s me ! Both are lovely.

I like Susanna and Elowen equally, but really dislike Sukie, so on that basis I’d vote for Elowen.

Ha I know about that. My mum and dad have always called me a nickname for my name which I hate and have refused to use since I started talking 🤣

I was coming on to say Elowen over Sukie but I do like Susanna, so both as lovely as each other. I prefer the spelling Susannah though and prefer the nickname Susie/y.

I personally don't think you can really pick nicknames in advance for children, they kind of grow into a nickname I find. I say this as my DD has a name that has a few nickname options and we really like one of them but she hates it and tells us to call her a different nickname, and she's only 4!

Elowen is nice but is El-O-wen not EL-o-wen, and is yet another Ellie name.

Susanna so she can choose a diminutive to suit.
