What would your expectations be of someone with the name....

I would really appreciate your thoughts on your impressions and expectations of these names:

girls:

  • Flora
  • Tess
  • Artemis

Boys:

  • Guy
  • Hector
  • Torsten

Flora - very common name here (Highlands) and lovely. Flora would be kind and gentle!
Tess - a feisty person, but unfortunately saddled with only one terrible nickname option - 'Tessie'
Artemis - the parents loved Greek(?) mythology or Artemis Fowl (Artemis was male in this book)

Guy - a total lad
Hector - wouldn't blink here (Highlands) - normal name, though admittedly mostly old people who have it
Torsten - pretentious (sorry!)

Hector & Artemis- parents like Greek Mythology

  • Artemis - No, too try hard(?), Artemis Fowl.

Boys:

  • Guy like a lot
  • Hector - not keen
  • Torsten - is it Scandinavian?

All suggest a normal middle class background, apart from the ones I questioned

Torsten- I would assume German parents who work in robotics engineering, the same field he will get into.

Hector- Salamanca.

Artemis and Flora- really good artists who will go onto the Slade School of Fine Art

Tess- Can muck out like nobody's business AND ace her A levels. She will be born wearing Blundstones.

Guy- Has rosy cheeks and is really into Rugby. His family's in Burke's Peerage. He will be an investment banker.

Flora - parents are probably lawyers
Tess - Tom boy
Artemis - parents are social climbers and/or wannabe intellectuals
Guy - trying to be posh
Hector - trying even harder to be posh
Torsten - hipster parents who say “gentle hands” while their child attacks yours
