Pronunciation issues baby girl names

Originally we really like Fiadh (fee-a) for our baby girl but realised it could sound like fear in certain accents so decided against it. Now we really like Maya (may-a) but worried about people pronouncing it My-a. Wish we could find a name that doesn’t come with pronunciation issues but these are the only two names I’ve loved. What do you think?

All My-as here. Sorry.

I know a Mara, who pronounces it May-ra. About half the people who know her pronounce it wrong. It's tiresome.

Yeah I'm a teacher and Maya/Maia/Mya/Mia all seem to be quite popular with interchangeable pronunciations. I would instinctively pronounce Maya as May-a but have come across lots who say My-a. That being said, you should only have to correct pronunciation once or twice and people will get it.

can you not find a name with simple definite pronunciation.

Troyhelena · 11/04/2021 20:38

I wouldn’t even think about pronouncing Maya as May-a

I would pronounce it my-a I’m afraid, and I think lots would.
