Not Corisande please. It looks like coriander.

I also know a Coriander... Goes by Cori though.

Noor - Nora is cute, Noor not so much
Thisbe - Frisbe with a lisp
Delphi - add an ne at the end and yes
Hebe - as in giving someone the heebie jeebies?
Elke - el-kah - not with that spelling
Roksana - cute
Corisande - pronunciation?
Cordis - yuck
Aleydis - nice
Ardith - nice
Olwen - not quite
Sasha - like and pretty standard
Saoirse - love and common enough now in England if youre here that people can pronounce it
Viviette - bleurgh

I know a Noor (Syrian family), an Olwen and a Hebe. I don't mind quite a few of those names actually.

To be honest, once the baby's born, very few people would be rude enough to comment, so I'd be inclined to go with what you want (unless the child would be ridiculed, eg with a name like Apple or whatever).

I chose names for my children by eliminating anything that the supply teacher at school would pronounce wrong when reading out the register. It helped a lot!

In the immortal words of Marian Keyes, they all feel a bit ‘cobbled together’.

As a PP says, you will get a polite ‘how lovely / unusual’ response when you introduce your little one, while eyebrows are raised internally.

However, who cares, really? As long as it’s a name you personally would feel proud of for yourself (that’s always my benchmark), then go for it.

I would find it a bit odd if you used a very obvious Indian or Irish name with no cultural connection to those countries.

I’ve known two German Elkes and knew a Noor.

I’m not sure they’re “different” so much as a random mix of names, some of which are just kind of standard names in other cultures. Saoirse is not that an unusual Irish name?

Is it just a name that isn’t Top 100/200 you’re looking for or going for anything specific? I don’t mind quite a few of these.

Noor = light, love it
Elke is Kosovan/Albanian? I had a friend years ago with the same name
Only other name I like on the list is Saoirse

Whilst internally thinking
'How utterly ridiculous.'

Mine is a harsh response, but I'm fairly sure I wouldn't be the only one; and I'd rather know in advance.
