I have a name that’s always, always misspelt (think ‘necessary on a bike’ - you might need to be old to get that reference), but I wouldn’t change it for that world. Definitely wouldn’t prefer a ‘nice, simple’ name.

wombatgoeswild · 17/04/2021 19:14

I have a simple name that is generally misspelled. It's a nightmare, was when I was a kid, still is now.

Give your kid a break, give them a simple, nice name.

MimiSunshine · 17/04/2021 18:52

@Tryingtryingandtrying

How do you pronounce Noor? Is it like a northern sounding no?
😂😂😂😂 absolutely dying at this
albeau · 16/04/2021 18:41

Reeva
Roma
Lana
Cora
Emmie

LadyWithLapdog · 16/04/2021 14:07

Here is another list to consider:

Elektra
Fabiola
Olympia

Carbara · 16/04/2021 14:01

Is that pronounced ElkyElka?
Noor rhymes with poor? That’s not a nice sound.
The others are a weird mixture of stealing names from cultures you can’t belong to all of them, UtahMom gibberish and misspellings of actual names. Is there more of a coherent type you like?

Crankley · 16/04/2021 13:40

I just wanted to say thank you, OP.

I have just created a new character in my online game and all the names I tried were taken. Then I remembered your thread and I now have a character called Corisanda Grin

Please don’t name your daughter any of these names

VienneseWhirligig · 12/04/2021 23:12

I've always quite liked Thisbe, it was the name of my nan's neighbour who always made a fuss of me when I was little.

Elke, Olwen and Sasha also nice names. Not keen on the others

NanuNanuM · 12/04/2021 23:11

Love Noor

aibutohavethisusername · 11/04/2021 16:29

I love the name Noor.

Ellmau · 10/04/2021 19:48

Noor - only if you have Arab or Muslim connections
Thisbe - trying a bit too hard to be unusual, there are lots nicer Shakespearean and Greek names, what about Hero or Cressida?
Delphi - not really a name
Hebe - OK
Elke - el-kah - OK if you have German family
Roksana - not that spelling, I like Roxana
Corisande - very pretty, my favourite of your list
Cordis - not heard of it; what about Cordelia?
Aleydis - not heard of it, and not sure how it would be pronounced
Ardith - pretty, may be a tiny bit too unusual
Olwen - dated
Sasha - OK
Saoirse - pronunciation issues
Viviette - sounds like a serviette; Viviana is nice

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 10/04/2021 18:59

I think we have pretty different tastes tbh, Op. My thoughts, for what they are worth....

Noor - are you from an Arabic background? If so, yes, it's lovely. If not then definitely no, it would just be a weird cultural appropriation.

Thisbe - if your kid turns out to have a lisp, this will be a nightmare for her.

Delphi - sounds like a nightclub

Hebe - jeebie?
Elke - el-kah - not keen
Roksana - trying to work out how this is pronounced as the spelling is weird. Roxanna is better.

Corisande - Ok.

Cordis, Aleydis, Ardis all sound like boys names.

Olwen my favourite. Sweet.

Sasha - Ok
Saoirse - Nice but again would be weird to use if you don't have an Irish connection somewhere.

Viviette - prefer Vivienne or Yvette tbh.

whatausername · 10/04/2021 16:15

Vivette sounds like a contraceptive or something medical.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/04/2021 15:09

Noor is okay. Queen Noor of Jordan.

Coolest Noor was a spy! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NoorInayatt_Khan

Volcanoexplorer · 10/04/2021 15:04

I’ve taught a Roksana. It’s a fantastic name, love it.

VenusClapTrap · 10/04/2021 15:02

I love Noor, it was on my list. I also like Sasha and Elke.

goldielockdown2 · 10/04/2021 11:16

What about Roger?

What 🤣

Carouselfish · 10/04/2021 09:06

Delphi as in the oracle at, is very nice.

Olwen very plain and dowdy but people seem to like similar names like Olive.

Noor is okay. Queen Noor of Jordan.

Elke means also in Dutch but is also a name. I like it.

Thee others are too try hard IMO.
