@Violetlavenders

will probably get laughed at at school around here

Cordelia will get laughed at? Are you serious? Where do you live ShockConfused?

Yeah I am, it's a bit too upper class for round here.
bridgetreilly · 07/04/2021 16:44

Yeah, I would assume it was Phoebe said by someone who can't pronounce Th/F differently.

Edenember · 07/04/2021 13:26

@FeedMeSantiago thankyou. My preference is towards dusty, clunky, ‘heritage’ even verging on ugly-chic names but I feel this is more elegant. I also love Rowena but I’d worry about the possible ‘wiener’ or wee related jokes. Like Rowenna too but I prefer the strong e sound. I also like lots of T-names - Tilda (love but vetoed), Theia, Thomasin. Middles are difficult to match with these kinds of names though because the shorter middles I like are all twee and cottagey by comparison - Nell, Jeane etc, and don’t go with the stateliness. But then it’s hard to not go over the top.

I know a little Cordelia, lovely name. I have never met a Thebe but am familiar with the name and know how to pronounce it.

Cordelia Thebe is lovely. Cordelia Phoebe is also lovely.

I think they’re a bit much together and the combo is a bit difficult to pronounce. I like Cordelia but as it is quite a grand name I’d be inclined to go for a plainer middle name to balance it out.

RuthW · 07/04/2021 12:20

Love Cordelia. Never heard of Thebe but fine for a middle name

Edenember · 07/04/2021 11:50

Marmite! Thankyou everyone for your comments

Phoebe is called "Feebs" for short.

Bloody love!

Foxhasbigsocks · 07/04/2021 08:04

Love Cordelia

Not so sure about Thebe and I think it’s a name that people will stumble over. It will always need to be spelt out for people to fill in forms etc.

MrsBungle · 07/04/2021 08:02

Cordelia is lovely. Thebe just isn’t a nice sound to me.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 07/04/2021 08:01

I'm not keen on them together, it's almost a tongue twister

SecretCiderCellar · 07/04/2021 08:00

Not together. I think the combination of stresses make it sound a bit over-elaborate.

GlamGiraffe · 06/04/2021 23:55

Like cordelia but not sure it goes with thebe brilliantly. If uou live it go for it. It drpendsxa lot in your surname as you tend to only use all the names together in context with the surname, most of the time its jyst cordelua which is pretty, unusual, probably a marmite name, my daughtr also has one but that foesnt matter. Far more people on here dislike her name intensley than like it but in our real life circle its been a hit. Its a voassic name, not one of the people obvious ones for revival like the evas, violets snd ivys but a vintage name nonetheless.

Edenember · 06/04/2021 23:47

Thebe rhymes with Hebe and Phoebe.

Another one not sure in the pronunciation of Thebe.

Assuming Thebe is a middle name not a double barrelled first, it's fine. Cordelia is I'd say quote unusual these days but I do know one baby Cordelia and it's a pretty and sensible name. Middle names you can have fun with, I don't think anything inoffensive should be vetoed as a middle name

serin · 06/04/2021 23:36

DDs best friend is Cordelia, nn "Cords" which is awful (IMO).

I love it. Cordelia is one of my favourite names and it sounds lovely with Thebe...

Stevearnottsbeard · 06/04/2021 20:00

Sorry, autocorrect changed it to the be 🤦🏻‍♀️ is it 'theebee'?
