I absolutely love this name, but its gotten very mixed reactions from others so I wanted to know what everyone on here thinks Smile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know someone who has a boy called Pippin. It’s a nickname for Peregrine though.

Runway · 05/04/2021 16:46

Have you perhaps thought about Balonz? It’s similar but a bit more rugged

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 05/04/2021 16:41

Perfect name for a little baby bunny! 🐰

percheron67 · 05/04/2021 16:21

Is your surname Cox I wonder?

FelicityMingington · 05/04/2021 16:21

As a slightly more unusual alternative in a similar vein have you thought about Pipkin?

Lauraloh · 05/04/2021 16:05

I quite like it in theory, but I agree it might be difficult to pull off as an adult. Maybe something like Philip or Peter or even Peregrine with Pip or Pippin for short? Someone mentioned Pepin as well which I think is lovely and feels much less cutesy for some reason.

MrsXx4 · 05/04/2021 10:26

As I sit looking at my 6 foot 4, 16 stone husband with his beard and beer belly it’s really giving me a giggle to imagine calling him Pippin! Grin

WaltzingToWalsingham · 05/04/2021 10:20

I immediately thought of Aunty Mabel and her dog Pippin. Fantastic programme, I watched it many times with my children. And it's a sweet name for a little boy, but dreadful for an older child or adult. Far too cutesy. Call him Phillip or Peter or Patrick and use Pippin as a family nickname.

TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 05/04/2021 10:16

Zoya 😂😂😂😍

TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 05/04/2021 10:16

Makes me think of tricksy hobbitses.

It's a no from me.

Legoninjago1 · 05/04/2021 10:13

Dog - we actually had one :)

Hellohello53452 · 05/04/2021 10:11

For a dog yes. Reminds me of the dog on the children’s show come outside

Bunnybigears · 05/04/2021 10:06

Nice name for a dog

MrsBungle · 05/04/2021 10:05

It’s awful. It’s not even nice as a nickname, it’s ok for a horse.

JemimaJoy · 05/04/2021 10:00

No! It's really wet.

AbsolutelyPansy · 05/04/2021 09:49

i know a couple of female Pip's, but they are nick names

Lindy2 · 05/04/2021 09:13

I had a pet rabbit called Pippin. It was a nice rabbit name.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 05/04/2021 09:11

FOOL OF A TOOK!

Sweet nn for Peregrine or Philip though.

ADragonCalledKeith · 05/04/2021 07:41

I have a friend of a friend, 43ish yo guy called Pip.
I assumed it was a nickname when I met him and his parents were LOTR fans, but nope!
I really like it and it suits him too.

lunar1 · 05/04/2021 07:30

Don't do that to a child! If you like it that much for a boy then your DH can change his name to Pippin.

PandaFluff · 05/04/2021 07:18

No sorry

chocolateorangeinhaler · 05/04/2021 07:11

There was a tv series in the uk in the 80s that had a dog in it called pippin.

Awful name to saddle a human with.

MsTSwift · 05/04/2021 06:59

Great for a pet. Are you mid pregnancy? I came up with some corkers. Dd1 was going to be called Lorelai at one point our surname has 2 syllables beginning with L. She is 15 now with a normal name and 🙄🙄 at the very idea!

drpet49 · 05/04/2021 06:58

Awful just awful.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 05/04/2021 06:56

Anyone who helped Frodo get The Ring to Mordor deserves respect so I'm all for it.
