Faye

Around me, Nell is a really common name for working dogs on the farms (usually Border Collies) so it puts me off naming a child that. Faye is uncommon but lovely.

Nell by a million miles. Faye is very dated - 80s - and a specific demographic.

I don’t normally like nn names but I love Nell. It’s very pretty and has historic associations - Nell Gwyn.

I like Faye, too.
I don't mind Nell if it's short for Helen, but I appreciate you might not like Helen.
Nelly is awful. I know a Nella. It sounds made up.

I would go with Faye. I always think Nell is a nickname amd deserves another option such as Eleanor or Penelope. Plus you will get the inevitable Nelly the elephant

SleepySlugs · 03/04/2021 10:23

I absolutely adore Faye. It's similar to dd's middle name so I am very biased.

What are your thoughts on Faye and Nell? Which do you prefer and why?

Thanks!
