Felicity is also a great name. Ophelia is just too tragic.

I don’t Think these are very soft sounding. Sweet and sugary, yes but the A in Amelie is hard I think.

PP’s suggestions of Louisa, Bethia, Juliet and Jennifer are lovely.

Lillylola · 04/04/2021 14:18

Florence is amazing

letterstospring · 03/04/2021 22:05

@amallierory Florence and Emilia are beautiful! I’ve never thought of them for some reason.

@Miljea

How can you be sure you're going to have a sweet, feminine child?
The suffragettes and suffragists all had very feminine names - Emmeline, Christabel, Sylvia, Millicent.

You can be feminine and strong!

Evangeline, Sophie, Lois, Linos, Luella, Lowenna, Gwyneth, Myvanwy, Emma, Elowen, Beatrice, Persephone, Tabitha, Bathsheba, Meredith, Eloise, Frances, Rose, Clover, Oona, Ines, Eve, Lucienne, Althea, Ismene, Isolde, Aisling (Ash-ling), Ysella (Ee-zella), Ella, Esther, Ophelia (nn Effie), Chloe,
Daphne, Alice, Grace, Annabeth, Fernanda

I think a th sound or an s at the end tends to be quite soft

Teaplease29 · 02/04/2021 23:13

@Miljea how can a parent be sure they are going to have a girl or boy who suits a 'strong' name or 'traditional' name or any type of name?

What are you really getting at here?

AnnaSW1 · 02/04/2021 23:08

I wouldn't use Evelina because I only associate it with the children's hospital
