Too many princess names?

twinmama2021 · 01/04/2021 11:21

We have an older daughter (6) called Arabella and are expecting twins any day now really. We are struggling so much on their names and had settled on Audrey & Quinn but are now considering Aurora to replace one of those two names.
But, my question is, is having Aurora and Arabella(Belle) too many princess names / does it sound like we spend all our time watching Disney+?!

I really like Quinn and Audrey! Aurora is a little twee, but I like Rory as a nickname. The connection to your grandparents is lovely, I wish I had given my DM's name as a middle name to my DD so she would have that connection after she passed, but it was too late as she was 15.

twinmama2021 · 01/04/2021 12:55

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the insights it’s interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts.
Just a reminder that although the girls would all have A names, they’re split up by their bothers who are F and H.
Arabella, Felix, Hugo, Audrey and Aurora.
Thoughts on it when you see it as written as above?

I have never once, ever, met someone and they’ve introduced themselves as xyz and I’ve gone ‘that’s a weird name’. Not even in my head.

Do. Not. Worry. About. It.

If you love the names just give them those names.

DodgeRainClouds · 01/04/2021 12:52

I like Audrey and Quinn but as a previous poster said Audrey is Aurora’s daughter in the Disney Descendants movies, however I don’t think that matters at all as most names have been used in movies and books previously

ImAlrightThanx · 01/04/2021 12:51

I'd go with Quinn and Audrey.
Arabella and Aurora are too similar, IMO.

Phrowzunn · 01/04/2021 12:51

Yes 3 A’s is too much, sorry, I just think it’s really naff when people do this, it’s like Kardashians or Colleen Rooney. WAGtastic. Your mum and sister would presumably have had a different title while living together (Mrs/Miss) so not so much of an issue? My DH has same initial as his younger brother and it drove him batty.

Hoowhoowho · 01/04/2021 12:49

Go for Quinn, there’s research that supports the idea that girls with unisex names like Quinn do better in school/college/employment. If anything it’s the best name of the three. I don’t hate Arabella or Audrey or Aurora but they are definitely girly names.

Infact change Audrey to Aurora, call her Rory and give both your younger daughters the same advantage.

GiggleMcdimples21 · 01/04/2021 12:49

I wouldn't do Audrey & Aurora. As pp have said, I like your middle names you have said above. Quinn could work as a middle name if you wanted to use one of the middle names as a first name for your baby girl? So, Audrey Quinn, Sophie Eva, Eva Catherine etc - using the names you've chosen above. Or you could do Quinn and Rory - reminds me of Gilmore girls and not in a bad way.

partyatthepalace · 01/04/2021 12:48

I think Arabella, Aurora and Audrey is lovely

I think of Arabella as a fantastic aristocratic Scottish name and Aurora as the Roman goddess of dawn - those associations are centuries old and will last a lot longer than any Disney association.

I like the 3 As.

I am not keen on Quinn I have to be honest, as it doesn’t have a lot of history (also bit close to quim...Hmm) - and yes if I were her I’d feel I’d drawn the short straw.

If it’s a family name coming from both grandmothers could it be a third name for both twins?? That could be nice -

RosesAndHellebores · 01/04/2021 12:47

Arabella (not Disney but a lovely name)
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Audrey (Gorgeous)

Arabella, Aurora and Audrey are too much together: triple A rating or battery :)

Jemima or Jessica might work instead of Aurora; or something like Rosalind or Meriel.

twinmama2021 · 01/04/2021 12:47

My Mum and sister have the same first initial and they’ve never run into issues with having the exact same initials so I’m less worried about this, but thank you for pointing it out! Definitely good to consider/remember.

My sister is Sophie! Which is why we’ve used it as a middle name - to honour her!

I think my big question is, are 3 A names too much? Is it better to have three A names than two A names and a Q, and risk Quinn feeling left out?

Naming humans is hard!

I don’t mind Quinn as a name itself but not sure I’d give it to a twin actually... Quinn the Twin

TeenMinusTests · 01/04/2021 12:43

Sophie and Catherine are lovely and go really well with your other DC names.

Sophie Alexandra Aurora
Catherine Eva Quinn

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 01/04/2021 12:42

What about aurelia?

Amdone123 · 01/04/2021 12:41

Stick with Audrey and Quinn.
Love your names. Now rest !!

Phrowzunn · 01/04/2021 12:40

Definitely don’t use Aurora if you call your other daughter Belle. Far too Disney and it would honestly make me think you were tacky and/or a simpleton. (For what it’s worth Audrey is actually the name of Aurora’s daughter in Descendants which is the next-gen Disney universe so it really would be OTT 😂). If you love Quinn just go for it and then could you not change Audrey to something less girly/not beginning with A? I’m not sure I’d want two daughters with the same initial anyway, it will be confusing with post etc. everything addressed to Miss A. Surname.
Or could you use Quinn as a middle name? We honoured my grandmother in that way as it was just a bit too old fashioned to use as a first name.

funnyoldonion · 01/04/2021 12:39

Some people use Rory as a nickname for Aurora, which is sweet but I prefer Audrey it's classic and I love Quinn, so cool and refreshing. My daughter has a harsh sounding marmite name and at first people's comments really bothered me, particularly in the first few months as I was fragile and suffered with PND, perhaps think of that, you need to be confident with the choice and not care what others think.

CakesOfVersailles · 01/04/2021 12:39

I like your middle names a lot by the way.

What about Arabella, Audrey and Catherine? Catherine Quinn would be lovely.

TeenMinusTests · 01/04/2021 12:37

To be honest I would
a) not use another name starting with A as it creates potential for confusion in post etc.
b) use Quinn as a middle name
but there is nothing outrageous with what you are planning, so if you are happy then go for it.

CakesOfVersailles · 01/04/2021 12:37

I probably wouldn't go for Arabella, Audrey and Aurora - too many A's and R's which all get lost together.

Quinn - I wouldn't go for it in the UK for a girl but as you are going to live in America it should be fine.

sphn · 01/04/2021 12:37

I LOVE Quinn. It's one of my all time favourite names. Don't be put off by others, I'm in the UK and would very much love to hear of a baby girl called Quinn. It's unusual but I think is a strong girls name without being over flowery.

I think Aurora and Arabella are too similar though, and are very different to Quinn.

I would stick with Audrey and Quinn.

twinmama2021 · 01/04/2021 12:37

So you would go with Audrey & Aurora?
The full names would very likely be
Audrey Alexandra Sophie
Aurora Catherine Eva
Or
Audrey Alexandra Sophie
Quinn Catherine Eva

You don’t think three girls with A names is too much? If the boys are F and H?

Agghhhh, maybe I really am overthinking this!!

I like Aurora and Ilaria!

user1493494961 · 01/04/2021 12:33

I think Quinn will definitely have drawn the short straw.
