Violet's sister is called...?

We've just found out we are having another girl and I am totally stumped on girls names! I was certain I was having a boy and had the name all picked out!!

Could you help me with name suggestions to go with Violet? I don't want anything old fashioned again so I would like something with more of a modern sound. A few on my list but I'm not sold on are:

Honor (husband hates this)
Amelie (a new addition- maybe too similar to Emily? I've got an Emily in the family)
Iris (not sure about another flower)
Esme (love this but I would pronounce it Ez-me and I think everyone else says Ez-may)
Winnie/Bobbie/Billie (like these but don't love the long versions of the names)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Lockdownbear

I like Ruby with it. Definitely not Indigo, makes them sound like a rainbow.
Ruby is lovely but it's my mums dogs name! A very loved dog who she treats as her third child!! Ruby would also be lovely as it was my DH's granny's name.

@Otterspotterspocket

The first name that popped into my head was Daisy - sweet and delicate. But the flower theme might not appear (and may e I am subconsciously channelling the Bucket sisters. Hmm
Haha yeah my dad suggested Hyacinth as a joke (I think!!)

@Stevearnottsbeard

Not too keen on skye personally and I read it as violet sky as if you were describing the sky 🙈 but anyway that's just probably me!!!
I totally get that, I can hear it now "Violet, Sky come back here"

Sorry OP I was thinking earlier about Violet being a colour rather than a flower, I can't even think what Violets look like.

Am not sure about Skye......
So far, I love Imogen, Margot and Esme ( biased. Never had any issues with pronunciation. It's not difficult to tell people which one she is ! I like both pronunciations, though )
Fleur is great, too. Obviously means flower, but isn't one.

pigglepot · 31/03/2021 11:04

My mum just suggested Skye and I quite like it! Violet and Skye is quite sweet...?

@Sawyersfishbiscuits

More modern names like...

Violet and Piper?
Violet and Teddy (short for Theodora)
Violet and Lyra
Violet and Coco
Violet and Harper
Violet and Juno
Violet and Manon
Violet and Kitty

Coco and Kitty were on my list last time but I struggle to find a long name they are short for that I love. Teddy is cute for a girl too but it's in my top 2 boys names so I think I'll save that for if we have another one in the future and he happens to be a boy!

@ContractClockAndCrucible

That's weird, Esme was the first name to enter my head when I saw your thread title! Violet and Esme, sound lovely together. I have a Bobbie, so I like that too.
Esme is lovely I have to say- it's short and pretty. But I do worry about pronounciation! I love Bobbie- does your Bobbie have a longer name or is she just Bobbie? Always reminds me of the Railway Children which is definitely a good thing!
