Cece or CeCe

Should you have a capital in the middle? 🤔

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Twelve8Ts · 28/03/2021 22:37

People on here can be so annoying.

Archie, Ronnie, Alfie etc are all short for longer names, as are Evie, Lottie, Ellie. I’m sure they’ll all cope just fine.

I love the name Cece, reminds me of New Girl
and First Dates - both gorgeous girls. It was on my list too. I don’t think you need to use a capital.

partyatthepalace · 28/03/2021 21:51

No, but anyway it’s a nickname for Celia, Cecilia, Cecily, Cecile etc

CeCe on it’s on sounds like a 1950s pin up in the Zsa Zsa Gabor mode - fine if that’s what you like, but it’s a very particular flavour which she may not like - so I really would give her a more standard full name

Spillanelle · 28/03/2021 19:28

If it’s the actual name rather than a nickname then I think just the capital at the start, otherwise she’ll have a lifetime of hassle trying to get it spelled right on any formal documents, systems, etc.

MooseBreath · 28/03/2021 19:25

The Cecilia I know goes by Ceci.

Alonelonelyloner · 28/03/2021 19:24

Capitals in the middle make no Sense!

See what I did there?

Actually my German keyboard is to blame for that...

MargosKaftan · 28/03/2021 19:20

I would presume it was a nickname too. Probably Cecilia.

Dont capitalise in the middle. Looks odd.

Synchrony · 28/03/2021 19:16

Cece if you want to use it as the actual full name.

If you're using it as a diminutive/nickname for something like Cecelia, then I think you can use either.

If you're using it as a diminutive/nickname for something like Celia Celeste, then I'd use CeCe because it's a short form of two names starting Ce.

Chunkymenrock · 28/03/2021 19:10

No capital. You don't randomly put a capital letter in the middle of a word.

florascotia2 · 28/03/2021 18:53

ffs had not 'hand'

florascotia2 · 28/03/2021 18:52

It's not a name in it's own right, whatever some babynames websites may say. They mostly talk rubbish.

Caecilius is a very, very old Roman family name that originally meant 'blind'. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caecilia_gens But that origin hand no literal meaning for later Roman generations - just as today, people surnamed 'Smith' do not actually hammer iron or shoe horses.

Cecilia is a very nice name directly derived from the Roman name. It's been used since Roman times. St Cecilia is the patron saint of music.

For hundreds of years, in England, its diminuitive has been 'Sissy' or 'Cissy'. Cece is a modern version of that abbreviation. It sounds very much the same.

Tambourina · 28/03/2021 18:20

No capital half way through.
Lovely if it's a diminutive of Cecelia.
Less lovely if that's the actual name.

Ijustlikedthename · 28/03/2021 18:02

A lovely name. I like both but looking at the thread title Cece does look like it flows across the page better

RockyTigerScarf · 28/03/2021 17:42

I think it's a lovely name, I'd go for Cece without the capital

SummaLuvin · 28/03/2021 17:40

makes me think of this Pomeranian www.instagram.com/cece.pomeranian/?hl=en

Enidblyton1 · 28/03/2021 17:37

Oops you’re right @PandaFluff
It does appear to be a name in its own right. I’ve only ever heard of it as a nickname for Cecilia, Cecily, Celeste etc.

Ikeameatballs · 28/03/2021 17:35

No capital.

I like it but as a nn for Cecelia or Celeste or Cecily.

PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 17:34

Also it will be hard when filling in forms by hand to make sure the second C looks capitally enough.

BeesAnkles · 28/03/2021 17:34

I seem to be in the minority but I'd go for CeCe. "Cece" might be pronounced like the word "cease".
Also, see CeeLo Green.

Amdone123 · 28/03/2021 17:33

Celeste nn Cece, is lovely.
No capital letter.

justwaydamin · 28/03/2021 17:31

No

Abraxan · 28/03/2021 17:31

Definitely no capital.
People will forget to add the capital letter. If this is likely to annoy you later on, don't do it.

Easterbunnygettingready · 28/03/2021 17:29

I know of a Cecilia who goes by Cece... Why would you have a capital letter mid name?

SeanChailleach · 28/03/2021 17:29

It's ever such a pretty name either way.
Are you actually putting it on a birth certificate? It's normally short for something and people will lengthen it to random names you never intended and don't necessarily like.

PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 17:28

@Enidblyton1

Neither of them are actually names. So absolutely up to you if you have a capital letter in the middle - there is no right or wrong answer here.
I googled it and aparantly it is a girl's name of Latin origin meaning "blind one". No idea if that's true though.
PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 17:27

I'd go for Cece. I don't know any other names where you'd stick a capital in the middle. Maybe there are some though?
