What other names might I like? Keep being horribly picky.

Boys:

Reuben- Orignal favourite but the issue is I feel like I've heard it too much now.

Tristan- sometimes I love this and sometimes I'm not sure. Dh needs convincing.

Jonah- really like but DS has a J name so don't think I should use another. Also sounds less good with our surname.

Girls:

Thea - just been used by a family member. Would feel weird as that's her name now.

Elowen - I've seen a couple of comments about pronunciation on here and LOL not being a great sound (even though I used to like it). Also so many E names for girls right now.

Georgiana- I'm worried it's just a phase.

Nothing else sticks. Ideas?

Merryn is lovely! And I really like Jonah. Would Josiah be better with your surname?

bridgetreilly · 31/03/2021 15:52

Willie which I can’t help but think is so cute

Seriously?

bridgetreilly · 31/03/2021 15:51

Personally I'd stay away from 'George' names for a girl. It might just be my area but in my DS's class at school there are two Georgie's, a Georgina and a Georgia. They are the same age as Prince George and I do wonder if that had something to do with it.

mistermagpie · 31/03/2021 14:39

For my DS we nearly picked Reuben but he's Hamish, what about that? Although we are in Scotland so it might not appeal elsewhere!

For girls, how about Elodie? Similar to Elowen but a bit... prettier? And easier to pronounce!

SoonToBeDad30 · 31/03/2021 10:57

Damian, Isaiah, Rufus, Micah? Rhea, Eloise, Maisie?

TatianaBis · 31/03/2021 10:29

I think you're not being picky enough. These names seem random and very different. Why not establish what type of name you're after first and then narrow down the preferences in that category.

FluffMagnet · 31/03/2021 10:15

I have a Georgiana - have nothing but compliments!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/03/2021 10:11

I like Reuben and Tristan. I don’t like Jonah.
With the exemption of Georgina I love your girls nAmes. I don’t know where people are getting the LOL sound out of Elowen. Confused

Other names you might like
Boys ...Elijah. Ezra. Nathan Aaron. Zachary. Elliot. Jude
Girls. Elsa. Saskia. Florence. Maeve. Hazel
Nina. Eden. Nora.

You might find this article on Tristan, with the sibling names at the end and "if you like this you may also like", helpful.

She has articles on Elowen too:

Other thoughts - Lucas/Luke, Noah, Elijah (Eli), Patrick, Issac, Oscar, Max, Guy, Nathaniel nn Nat/Nate, Sebastian nn Seb or Bash, Christopher nn Kit,

This was pretty much what I was going to suggest!

I love Tristan though. And the one I know has a neither with a J name too!

Girls I'm not as keen on your names but they aren't bad - just not what I'd go for!

I like

Matilda
Phoebe
Charlotte
Bethany
Maya
Sophia

Flymetothestars · 28/03/2021 15:08

Tristan is lovely.
All that tranche of similar sounding R names like Reuben Rohan Rory Roman are a so overdone and dull at the moment. Roman is the fastest rising boy name and it's everywhere so avoid all them if popularity is a concern, which is sounds like it is.

Chilldonaldchill · 28/03/2021 14:43

What about Lowenna instead of Elowen?

Lenny86 · 28/03/2021 14:25

Where do you live? I see a lot of people on here saying Reuben is popular, but I rarely hear it where I am (East London). But some of the names people have suggested are very popular like Isaac. Love Elowen!

Ikeameatballs · 28/03/2021 13:22

Rudy
Amos
Rupert
Laurence
Gregory

Marianne
Cordelia
Cecilia
Francine
Daphne

Violetlavenders · 28/03/2021 13:15

Quentin? Sebastian?

Louisa? Florence?

Noodlesnoodlesnoodles · 28/03/2021 13:14

I like Reuben, but much prefer Rowan or even Rory for boys' 'R' names. Not keen on the other two. How about -

Aidan
Dylan
Euan / Ewan
Ioan
Joel
Seth
Sebastian (Seb)
Aaron

Girls:

Thea is lovely. How about - Thora, Thalia, Nia, Mia, Cora, Cara, Kiera / Ciara.

Elowen is nice, but find the pronunciation a bit clunky. How about Anwen, Arwen, Eloise Elodie, Elise, Eleanor. Or, on a similar tree theme, Sylvia / Sylvie, Willow, Rowan or Asha.

Georgiana - don't like. Prefer Josephine or Juliet or Violet in a similar vein.

Ellmau · 28/03/2021 12:05

Rufus

Rosalind
Miranda

partyatthepalace · 28/03/2021 10:12

Love Reuben but agree overdone, slightly prefer Tristram to Tristan.

Other thoughts - Lucas/Luke, Noah, Elijah (Eli), Patrick, Issac, Oscar, Max, Guy, Nathaniel nn Nat/Nate, Sebastian nn Seb or Bash, Christopher nn Kit,

Love Elowen. Georgiana is nice but she will likely end up being called George/Georgia/Georgie so depend how you feel about that - also two pronunciations - GEOR-gi-ARN-a or GEOR-JAY-na, which could get irritating. Thea I think is meh

Other thoughts - Stella / Estella, Adela, Robin, Ffion, Serena, Philippa nn Pippa, Frances, Lois, Claudia, Luella, Leonora, Clara

daisypond · 27/03/2021 21:52

They’re a mixed set of names, so hard to judge. How about:

Rupert
Miles
Guy

Louisa
Elise
Cara

DarcyJack · 27/03/2021 21:40

Really like Rueben and Jonah (not Tristan at all) how about Judah or Malachi?
Not keen on any of your girls names but would prefer Georgina, Dorothy, or maybe Esther

quarentini · 27/03/2021 21:30

Monty.... Tobias .... xander

Margot..... Bromwyn .......Agatha
