Unsure of baby’s name!

Hi all! My baby is 5 months old and I’m really not sure if I like her name! Long story short, I suffered from PND and PNA and struggled with bonding for the first month and therefore couldn’t find the right name! She’s a beautiful and happy baby so starting to get mum guilt about it! She’s currently 6 months. My friends and family just roll their eyes with it now! Which do you prefer out of the following - ( just your favourites , I don’t need to know which you don’t like)
Emilia (could shorten to Mila or Millie) (birth name)
Lyra
Heidi
Adeline
Iris
Norah
Ava

Sorry OP I realised you've already said you're going to stick with Emilia! I'm glad you've decided to stick with it and you can ignore my comment about spelling. I think part of the reason we always get confused with my cousin is that her sister is Aurelia so the two together can be confusing for spelling! Lovely name and lovely choice x

I love Emilia the most but I do wonder if the spelling might confuse people. I've got a cousin called Emilia and I have to admit her parents are always having to correct people (including us!!) on the spelling.

In terms of name regret I really feel for you as I named my daughter after ten days of very stressful deliberation and still felt it was the wrong name until she was at least 6 months. I now love her name though and I think it suits her. Interestingly my "other" name for her was Iris. I think it's such a big responsibility to name a child and hormones post partum make it even harder. Also my personality is indecisive and over thinker so I think I was never going to find it easy to commit to one name- are you a bit the same perhaps?

Emilia is my favourite! Love the nicknames you suggest but I also know an Emilia who guys my Mia or Emmy so there’s so much scope for a nickname to fit her personality! X

I love Emilia! We have an Emilia at school. It's so versatile.

She'll get used to spelling it and there are so many Amelia's that eventually I'm sure she'll love being a bit different.

Re reading this thread has made me remember a time I doubted the name we chose for our first born. It seems like a huge responsibility, naming a person! She’s 11 now and her name is part of her, and I love it. Flowers

Emilia is my favourite. I like Emmy as a nickname.
Next would be Iris and Ava but they are relatively popular and Lyra.
Not so keen on the others although your whole list is nice really.

With regards to spelling, lots of people have to spell out their names. It's really not a problem. Lots of more common names have multiple possible spelling variations. I love her birth name.

Emilia is lovely. My DD has a friend with that name, who is often known as Millie.

There’s a lot of angst about names. Ultimately (as long as you haven’t picked something that will dreadfully embarrass a child - which you clearly haven’t), it doesn’t really matter all that much - the name becomes “their” name and signifies them. I wanted to name my DD after a family member and my DH really didn’t. I’d always imagined having a DD with that name and I was initially sad about it. But now she’s older, I can’t imagine her being called anything other than the name we chose.....and neither can she. There’s no such thing as the “right” name, so certainly no need to feel any guilt. You’ve chosen a lovely, classic name for her. I’d stick with it and just concentrate on enjoying your little girl. (That said, it’s also by far my favourite from your list!)

Ava - don't like it

Of your list Emilia is by far the nicest. Good choice.

I like Emilia best too - I like the shortened versions also and would consider Emmie and love Mila x

I gave my little girl a name that was too big for her when she was a baby. By the time she was walking and talking she had definitely grown into it, and now she’s 10 I can’t imagine any other name that would have been as good. Emilia is a beautiful name (and the others on the list are also lovely choices!)
