Bruce?

What does MN think?

Can't decide if baby Bruce is cute or crazy.

My immediate go to was Springsteen (cool), DH's was Batman (also cool), and then we thought of Forsythe.... 😂🙈

I like it. Used to know a Bruce who was beautiful.

May2021Mummy · 22/03/2021 22:58

I love it

AllTheWayFromLondonDAMN · 22/03/2021 22:53

Little Bruce?!

Ingridla · 22/03/2021 22:48

Dear god no. Sounds like a burly tattooed Australian.

Jasharps · 22/03/2021 22:45

I love it but I'm a big Springsteen fan! Think it would be cool

jackstini · 22/03/2021 22:43

Both the Bruces I know are lovely, one 40s, other 60s

I still think 'Australian' and prefer Bruno though

headlock · 22/03/2021 22:23

I like it.

partyatthepalace · 22/03/2021 22:05

It's not crazy at all but I don't like it / find it slightly... comic?

DramaAlpaca · 22/03/2021 21:54

Dear lord, no!

Forest27 · 22/03/2021 21:47

I’m not a fan. Makes me think of the shark from
Finding Nemo 😂

torquewench · 22/03/2021 21:27

My favourite sportman's called Bruce. He's a Kiwi misses point of thread

BertieBotts · 22/03/2021 21:22

I suppose about the cool 20yo, but do you really think so? I don't think it works like that, I think the association is "old man" for ages before it tips over into cute or good old fashioned strong name.

I couldn't have imagined going to school with a Molly for example which came back about 15/20 years after my time.

skeggycaggy · 22/03/2021 21:22

I know a Bruce in their 20s. It surprised me. I don’t hate it.

2021namechanges · 22/03/2021 21:21

My immediate thought is Forsythe. But I suppose Bruce Willis is quite cool maybe?

inmyslippers · 22/03/2021 21:19

I like it

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2021 21:07

I quite like it!

I know a Bruce in his 30s

user1495884673 · 22/03/2021 21:07

The thing with not quite "cute grandpa" yet names is that they will be back in 20 years by which time anyone named now will be a 20 year old with a cool name, ahead of the curve.

user1495884673 · 22/03/2021 21:04

Also hear it in an Australian accent. Bruce, Bruce, Bruce and Bruce of the University of Wallamalloo. I actually think it's quite a nice sounding name but it does have a lot of baggage.

BertieBotts · 22/03/2021 20:56

I don't like it. It's too close to "brute" so it sounds like a violent thug to me. Also I associate it with men of a certain age. It's not quite got to "cute grandpa" stage of reusability like Albert or Arthur. It just sounds, yes, as someone else said like Keith or Nigel.

Cheesypea · 22/03/2021 20:55

Was their a Bruce in kath and kim?

Another one who can only hear it in an Australian accent!

WildCherryBlossom · 22/03/2021 20:47

I prefer Bruno

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/03/2021 20:44

I can only hear it in Aussie accent too! Even more so than Sheila... I don't know why because I do think of Bruce Willis, Springsteen and Wayne too -but the Aussie comedy stereotype is strong, so it's a no from me, sorry.

Overdueanamechange · 22/03/2021 20:40

Only if you call his sister Sheila ;-)
