My three week old is Francis. Named after my dad who died when I was little.

Sexnotgender · 26/03/2021 04:11

Francis! I have a toddler Francis and love his name.

I’m so sorry for your loss Flowers

Watchingthetelly · 22/03/2021 17:12

Another vote to say what a lovely name Francis is. I know the older generation were usually nicknamed Frank but the couple I know of my generation have always been called Francis, no nn.

Tamingofthehamster · 22/03/2021 16:10

I would go with Frank

Twinkie01 · 22/03/2021 14:59

Francis is lovely and will get shortened to Frank not Cissy.

misslomi · 22/03/2021 14:52

Francis is my favourite name, love both Frankie and Frank.

IAcceptCookies · 22/03/2021 14:37

I’m inclined towards Francis as that was my dear DGFs name, but I think they’re both great names!

Vomadetroit · 22/03/2021 09:59

Francis

KirstenBlest · 22/03/2021 09:56

Francis

partyatthepalace · 22/03/2021 08:50

... with names like Gabriel and Raphael all over the place don’t think you need to worry about him being called Cissy. And if he wants to call himself Frank he can.

partyatthepalace · 22/03/2021 08:48

Francis for sure - goes very nicely with the others

VenusClapTrap · 22/03/2021 08:36

Dd(10) has a Franklin and a Francis in her year. Franklin is known as Frankie, but Francis is always just Francis. I much prefer Francis.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 22/03/2021 02:38

Francis is a brilliant name .

CakesOfVersailles · 22/03/2021 00:30

Francis is a great name and goes well with the older two.

Marcipex · 22/03/2021 00:16

I don’t think kids say ‘sissy’ any more anyway. They call each other ‘wimp’ ‘gay’ ‘nerdy’.

QueQueQue · 22/03/2021 00:05

I have a Franklin. He's absolutely baffled by his full name and hates it (goes by Frank/Frankie)
I wish we'd called him Francis instead, lovely name

Kanaloa · 22/03/2021 00:00

I don’t think Cissy would be an issue, he would probably be called Frank/Frankie by his friends, so if you like that there’s no problem. Pretty much any name goes well with Francis, maybe pick another family name as a pp suggested.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/03/2021 23:40

Francis - I don't think he'll get "cis/cissy", it'll be Frank/Frankie/Fran or the full version as Francis is well known enough (Francis works well imo with Hugo and Eliza btw).

If you are honouring your Mum (sorry for your loss), how about using your Dad's and/or DH's Dad's name for the middle or would that be too much?

If not, I'd stick to the classics as Francis is fairly underused/uncommon now - so William, Alexander, George, Edward, James etc whatever works best with your surname.

user1493494961 · 21/03/2021 22:47

Definitely Francis.

MadMadMadamMim · 21/03/2021 19:39

Franklin is an animated cartoon turtle.

tigerbread20 · 21/03/2021 19:39

You've sold it for him! I'm so pleased.
Any suggestions for a nice middle name?

Francis is so much nicer than Franklin.

What a lovely tribute to your mum Flowers

BlondehairRedlips · 21/03/2021 19:38

Francis!!!!!! Mint name

waitingforsun · 21/03/2021 19:37

Francis/Frances is top of my list for boy or girl. Love it!

toastofthetown · 21/03/2021 19:30

I'm sorry to hear about your mother, what a horrible time to lose her. Frances/Francis are great names.

I wouldn't worry about bullying because of names. I don't think my view is popular on here, but I don't think children are bullied just because of their name. I think unfortunately if a chid will be bullied they will be regardless of their name, while a popular child can pull anything off. Francis is well used enough that bullying shouldn't be a problem regardless.
