Is Jane boring, and does it sound ok with sister Nina?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ThunderR0ad78 · 17/03/2021 22:05

I like Janey

CoffeeRunner · 17/03/2021 22:03

Yes Jane is a bit boring.

But it does go perfectly with Nina.

MishaHarrow · 17/03/2021 22:02

Funnily enough, I know called Jane Wayne.

livinlavida2021 · 17/03/2021 21:59

Dry. Don't do it

Lizadork · 17/03/2021 21:59

No to Jane. Very boring

Lydia, Victoria, Elizabeth?
Maybe Juliet, Joanna or Jessica.

shivermetimbers77 · 17/03/2021 21:58

I love it, it was my mum’s name. Although she spelled it Jayne.

daisypond · 17/03/2021 21:56

I like Jane a lot and I think it goes nicely with Nina. Both are short, simple and classy names.

milinhas · 17/03/2021 21:56

I really like Joan as suggested by a PP, sounds a bit more interesting than Jane but very similar in sound. I know many lovely Janes though and I don’t have bad associations with it.

stuckinarutatwork · 17/03/2021 21:53

Yes

DavidsSchitt · 17/03/2021 21:53

Jane is lovely!

DennisTMenace · 17/03/2021 21:42

I hate being a Jane. I think it is dull dull dull. Every person my age had Jane or Louise as a middle name. I guess they are the Rose/Grace/May of their day. That being said, your kid, your choice. Plus, as previous poster said, kids will look at names differently and it will be an unusual name for this age.

PurpleDiamonds · 17/03/2021 21:36

How about Jade instead of Jane?

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/03/2021 21:32

Having said that, to match I would be thinking Heidi/ Lara/ Astrid/Anna.

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/03/2021 21:29

I love these simple names; Jane , Mary, Joan, Jean etc they are antidotes to the super frilly Olivia type names but also counterpoint to look at me , my child's name is Balonz vibe. Main risk is that they are the new trend .

Cocopogo · 17/03/2021 21:27

Yes

MishaHarrow · 17/03/2021 21:26

Anna

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 17/03/2021 21:26

I think it's beautiful but agree it doesn't go very well with Nina.

Any other options?

Noodlesnoodlesnoodles · 17/03/2021 21:24

I think it is, I'm afraid, and I don't think it goes well with Nina. If you want classic, I think Alice or Lucy, or perhaps Josephine, are much nicer. Or nature names could work - Iris, Ivy, Lily, Rose etc.

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/03/2021 21:22

Lovely, classic and really unusual (for a new baby).

Dillybear · 17/03/2021 21:21

I think it’s a beautiful name. Surprised by some of the comments to be honest!

MishaHarrow · 17/03/2021 21:21

Jane is boring imo.

If sister is called Nina (nice name), could I recommend Anna?

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 17/03/2021 21:21

I know a school aged Jane with an older sister who has a beautiful name similar to Nina. She’s not happy with being a “plain Jane” especially when almost every girl at school has a much nicer sounding name and her sister has a lovely name. It seems very cruel and unfair from her perspective.

Sorry but I do think it’s boring. It also doesn’t go with Nina.

Gianna is the Italian for Jane and nice, as well as fitting with Nina.

AnyaMoondial · 17/03/2021 21:19

I think it is beautiful and elegant.

optimistic40 · 17/03/2021 21:14

I think Jane will sound boring to older people, but interesting to younger ones. I don't know any young Janes. It's not an unattractive name.

Woodlandbelle · 17/03/2021 21:14

I actually think it's beautiful goes with Nina.
But something like Grace or Eve could work well

Naoimi is one of my favourites.
