Is Jane boring, and does it sound ok with sister Nina?

Nina & Nancy
Nina & Naomi
Nina & Neve

Nina & Jane

Don't like Jane sorry.
Nina & Jade?

kimlo · 17/03/2021 22:31

No it's not.

But I would call her Claudia.

PotentialBeautyTherapist · 17/03/2021 22:30

Jane is a lovely name, definitely due a comeback. Considered it for my DD (who is an Anna)

Someone else suggested Astrid & I agree that goes well with Nina.

PADH · 17/03/2021 22:28

I think its a nice name, but it doesn't go particularly well with Nina.

midsomermurderess · 17/03/2021 22:28

No, it has an elegant simplicity, especially as against names like Ottilie, Elodie, Emily etc. I am also quite fond of Jean.

Heartofglass12345 · 17/03/2021 22:28

I think Zara goes well with Nina. But if you like the name Jane, use it Smile it doesn't matter what we think lol

Marcipex · 17/03/2021 22:27

Nina is okay but Jane is prettier.
(Also Janie)
Nina and Clara
Nina and Elise
Nina and Juliet
Nina and Miriam

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 17/03/2021 22:23

I always think of ‘Plain Jane Superbrain’ showing my age! In all seriousness I do think you have to be attractive to carry it off otherwise you are just plain with a plain name, a bit depressing when you think about it. It really suits Jane Seymour and Jane Asher.

Squashiesaremyfav · 17/03/2021 22:22

I like Ruth and Alice

Vursayles · 17/03/2021 22:21

Lazy?! It’s a lovely, classic beacon in a sea of modern identikit names which really are boring as they’re so common! I’m really surprised by all the negative opinions.

Roszie · 17/03/2021 22:20

Very

MusicTeacherSussex · 17/03/2021 22:20

I actually think Jane is nice but could you spice it up? Janella or Janessa or Emma-Jane, Sarah-Jane
I don't know. Jane is nice but Nina is a bit more fun. Jane could be more diverse. I like Jeane too or Jaine

Piggyhoolier · 17/03/2021 22:18

A sister for Nina to me would be Rosalie, Lois, Maeve. Not Jane.

But I don’t dislike Jane. I think it could suit a sassy little girl quite well.

If it’s simple, 1 syllable names you like, maybe Fleur, Elle, Leigh, Claire, Kate

Squeakerfoot · 17/03/2021 22:18

She would be the only Jane of her age, so even if it sounds out-dated to some, it would actually be rare. By the time she grows up it will probably have come back and she'll be considered an adult with a very cool name!

Having said that Janey sounds fresher and sweeter than Jane to me (especially for a child) and goes well with Nina.

Sandgrown1970 · 17/03/2021 22:16

Really don’t like it, sorry. It seems like a lazy choice of name, particularly when you contrast it with Nina.

YoyoRiot · 17/03/2021 22:14

Forget about Jane having the association with being dull. Say it out loud, it sounds like two bells being changed together. The sound of the name is beautiful

Cotswoldmama · 17/03/2021 22:14

Jane definitely makes me think 'plain Jane' and I don't think it sounds nice. Love the name Nina, I feel like you need another short name to go with it may Cleo, Zara, Sara, Lena?

ghislaine · 17/03/2021 22:13

If you wanted more of a sibset you could try Jean? Jean and Nina.

pinkpinecone · 17/03/2021 22:12

Jane is rather boring. Nina is lovely. They really don't really go together.

ghislaine · 17/03/2021 22:11

An under-used and under-appreciated classic.

DotDotDotDotDot · 17/03/2021 22:10

Yes sorry I think Jane may be one of the most boring names I can think of.
Nina is gorgeous though. So many beautiful girls names you could choose, have you got any other ideas? I think Lois, Eve or Rose would be lovely with Nina.

schnubbins · 17/03/2021 22:09

I love it and think it is a really pretty name.

Amdone123 · 17/03/2021 22:09

I like it and am surprised, too, by some of the comments. I think it's beautiful. I do like Anna, too.
Nina seems really popular on here. I think it's ok.

BrilliantBetty · 17/03/2021 22:08

It's nice.

But might depend on location as accent plays a part!

Vursayles · 17/03/2021 22:06

Jane is gorgeous and so rare these days. I absolutely love it. Goes perfectly with Nina too. Go for it.
