What do you think of this name, I think it's fresh but not too out there. Not sure how others would view it though.

I have known a few Frith/as, all named after the character in The Snow Goose. They are always cool. I think it's a lovely name, OP.

The cathedral in Oxford was established in about 800ce or something by St Frideswide. I thought it was a man's name but it is actually Frith Switha The Switha bit means strong apparently. The spelling was a bit fluid in those days and there was The Great Vowel Shift in 1200ce which I think is why poor old Frideswide gets called something like "Fried swine". But Frida- Swida was a tough cookie however you spell her.

Fiona is good.

Frida and Fritha are basically the same word. Fritha is based on the old Norse way of spelling, which used a symbol like a 'd' but with a cross through the upright stroke. This represented the sound 'th'.
Frida is a more modern version of the name.

I know a Fritha and I do think it's pretty. But... I also know a couple of people who can't say it properly and it comes out as Friffa.

Well that was helpful I suppose. There seems to be a consensus that pronunciation would be difficult, so I'll probably not chose it, even though I still think it's lovely. I do actually like the suggestion of Fiona, I hadn't considered that at all.

Sorry but l can imagine some people struggling with pronouncing it correctly, children can be cruel, and may call them Frit-ha, as in Potato, Banana, or Pineapple varieties!

I always hear this, that kids will torture their names, but in reality it's not common practice.

I see worse from adults.

Watership down is also the first thing I thought of. Not a bad association, bit I'm still not keen on the name - sounds quite awkward - Freya or Frida have a much nicer flow.
