Middle name for Annie?

We’ve just found out DC2 is a little girl. Her first name will be Annie after her grandmother who is sadly no longer with us, but middle name is up for debate!

I had originally thought Rose, which I do love but it’s the name of another family member and I think she should maybe have one name that’s just her own. So, the short list so far is...

Florence
Edith
Flora
Violet

I also like Iris and Ivy but I don’t think they work well with Annie.

Quite a type now I’ve written them out! Would love to hear opinions or other suggestions!

All your options are lovely (not Rose though it's done to death in the middle name spot)

A few other options for you to consider

Annie Veronica
Annie Vanessa
Annie Scarlett
Annie Rebecca
Annie Isobel
Annie Ruth
Annie Paulina
Annie Jessica
Annie Christina
Annie Jasmine
Annie Helena

I would either go short:
Annie May
Annie Grace
Or longr:
Annie Evangeline
Annie Clementine.
Or you could do two syllables if the middle name ends with a consonant sound:
Annie Florence

I know you don’t want Rose but it really is the best choice amongst all that.

Annie Rose is just stunning.

MinnieKat · 20/03/2021 18:17

Annie Marie

Junipersky · 20/03/2021 11:35

I like Annie Florence best.
I also love Annie Amelia.

Annie Violet is lovely.

If you want Rose too I'd go for Annie Violet Rose surname.

Other names I like as middle names with Annie

Annie Grace
Annie May
Annie June
Annie Frances
Annie Elizabeth
Annie Marie

I'd go with Annie Victoria or Annie Catherine, but that's just my taste. Annie is a great name, though... Annie Cordelia?

35andThriving · 19/03/2021 21:33

Annie Victoria has a nice ring to it. I like that a lot.

Dulcinae · 19/03/2021 19:55

We had Annie Victoria on our list.

ShowOfHands · 19/03/2021 07:26

My aunt was Annie Miriam (nn Nance) and I love it.

Redsquirrel5 · 19/03/2021 01:57

My grandmother’s name was Annie Elenora. Is that any good it rolls off the tongue well though she went by Nora as an adult. She was a concert pianist and had a degree in music from London which was quite unusual for a girl her age as she came from a tiny village in the Highlands and she went on to travel the world then settled back in Scotland.

Congratulations on your baby girl.

Redskyyy · 18/03/2021 20:56

My 10 month old is Annie Florence so my vote is for that. Congratulations!

My best friend is Annie Lillian 😊

I would say Annie is it’s own name now. I know about 4 adult Annie’s and that’s their bc name.
Annie Kate
Annie Joy
Annie Grace
Annie May sounds like Anime so might not be great haha

35andThriving · 14/03/2021 14:35

Annie Lucille
Annie Simone

Chilldonaldchill · 14/03/2021 14:14

I know 3 Annie Roses!
I like all your options and I think Annie Iris also sounds lovely (I agree Annie Ivy doesn't work).
Annie Florence would probably be my favourite. I also like:
Annie Constance
Annie Beatrice
Annie Meredith
Annie Cordelia
Annie Catherine

I know an Annie Sarah which I think is lovely.
From your list I would probably pick Annie Florence. But I would be wary of picking too “old” names together.

Smizzlediz · 13/03/2021 06:54

Thank you all, I think it comes down to Florence or Violet though I might add Rose back in there because it does sound great and I love the Shirley Hughes books too!

Annie Sophia does sound really lovely too, but I know so many Sophia’s it doesn’t feel like the right one for me. Aside from Rose I think I prefer a longer name, it will be just a middle name and not double barrelled as someone asked. Though May does sound nice too actually 🤔 Maybe I’ll have to let DH have the final pick!

She will be just Annie, I know it’s not to everyone’s taste. Her namesake was an Anne but hated it so was Annie her whole life, I only knew her as an adult so it doesn’t seem too cutesy to me either and I want to feel like I’m giving her the same name, it would change too much if I was to give her a formal name too I think.

Annie Florence and Annie Violet are both lovely.

I also love Edith and Flora but they don't flow as well with Annie.
