What are people’s thoughts/opinions on this name please? 🤔 Any suggestions on this or similar names would be fantastic or names that would go with it (middle names etc)
Thankyou any help is appreciated.

I love it 🥰

My nan was Constance - she hated it. Everyone called her 'No nonsense Constance' - she equally hated Connie much to a family members disappointment after she named her daughter Connie in recognition of nan 🙈

Nan ended up going by her middle name for most of her life and refused to respond if anyone called her Constance.

Nell96 · 13/03/2021 16:52

Really dislike Constance, but love Connie as a nn. Florence?

everydaysablessing · 13/03/2021 16:29

Love it. DD has a Connie in her class and it's classic, sweet and slightly unusual. Go for it

Ps if you Google “Gloriavale names” you won’t have to sit through the series.

I like Felicity and Grace which I think are virtue names but not too virtuous if you see what I mean. But Constance is good, though Constanza is a prettier spelling.

(I watched some dire programme a while ago about a deeply misogynistic sect in New Zealand, they gave their children very virtuous names, and at the end of the last part there was a montage of some of the children introducing themselves, there were some real eyebrow raisers!)

Chocomel · 13/03/2021 16:12

Love Constance. Connie is cute. Please don't ever shorten it Con. It's French for idiot..... or much worse.

SE13Mummy · 13/03/2021 12:41

Constance Bethany is lovely. Changing the spelling to Betheny because your friend might show off is very odd and suggests to me that the friendship is rather immature. Using Bethany as a middle name will reduce the amount of mileage your 'friend' will get as very few people would imagine one person's baby was named after another person's baby/toddler, names used in honour of another person tend to be names inspired by adults.

Other middle names for Constance:
Rachel
Madeleine
Imogen
Isabelle
Emily
Abigail
Jennifer
Charlotte
Louisa
Eloise
Helena
Eleanor
Jessica

I know a Cadence which is similar.

gottakeeponmovin · 13/03/2021 11:13

Lovely

Leanne001 · 13/03/2021 11:00

We chose the spelling Betheny changing it from the original spelling because we have a friend (who also called her daughter Bethany) and she would think and feel we named her our daughter after her daughter and she would just go and show off that we called our daughter after hers maybe even lull it over us? If that makes sense?

Other suggestions - Liberty, Hope, Clemency/Clementine, Emmeline.

Dodgypainting · 13/03/2021 10:23

I’ve only ever come across one Constance. Her nn is Stanzi which I love. I really like the name.

Wondermule · 13/03/2021 10:20

Hmmmm.

It’s kind of nice in an abstract way, like for a character in a book.

But I’m not sure your daughter would thank you for it - it’s one of those names which embody what parents want their child to be, rather than how the child will see themselves, if that makes sense.

She would have to be very a wholesome and modest person to live up to it, and she might not be 🤷🏼‍♀️

Iwasonceabrownie · 13/03/2021 10:18

Bethany is lovely, you have spelled it Betheny though.

Leanne001 · 13/03/2021 10:00

Yes lovely

GreenandPinkFlowers · 13/03/2021 00:42

I don't love it, it just reminds me of the word 'constant'. I do, however, adore Connie on its own 😍

CoffeeBeansGalore · 13/03/2021 00:22

I prefer Cadence tbh.

wizzler · 13/03/2021 00:18

Love it. Constance Joy would be my suggestion

alexdgr8 · 13/03/2021 00:06

it is a fine name.
good, classic, and something to aspire to, being true, reliable, honest.
very good choice.

MercyBodle · 13/03/2021 00:03

Constance has grown on me lately. I'm not keen on Connie though. I do like Coco and Tansy as possible nicknames.
