What are people’s thoughts/opinions on this name please? 🤔 Any suggestions on this or similar names would be fantastic or names that would go with it (middle names etc)
Thankyou any help is appreciated.

Thank-you for all your comments! Means so much to us both and I'm really unsure how I can answer you all individually (Being new on here)
But I will try.

Coming up with Constance was unusual my husband was walking in the woods with the dogs and the name just hit him and he rang me straight away(there is no reason why he would think of that name because we don't know anyone called Constance)... we saw this as a sign... But a few months later the same happened to me but with the name Bethany while walking the dogs together.

Sorry I just saw your update.
Constance Bethany is the nicest in my view.
(I like Clementine but Constance Clementine is quite a mouthful and Constance Autumn Lily seems a bit gimmicky).

Constance Lydia
Constance Imogen
Constance Meredith
Constance Annabel
Constance Eliza
Constance Naomi

Perhaps it has pockets of geographical popularity, there were three in DD2's primary school, another Connie in her Brownies group and now another in her secondary school. So locally to us it's not an unusual name :-)

BasiliskStare · 14/03/2021 04:47

I knew a Connie who was a Constance - this was probably 45 years ago - apart from my mother the strongest woman I have known

It is obviously, obviously , obviously your choice @Leanne001 But just chucking a vote in for Constance rather than Bethany Blush Flowers

jakeyboy1 · 13/03/2021 23:12

I loved Constance but husband didn't. Ended up getting Connie as a middle name though!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 13/03/2021 23:02

My fave it Bethany Constance - great name. I prefer Beth over Connie as a nickname as well.

mrwalkensir · 13/03/2021 22:27

Constance Autumn Lily or Constance Clementine.

MintyCedric · 13/03/2021 22:06

Makes me think of D'Artagnan's kick ass girlfriend in The Musketeers.

I also know a couple of lovely Connie's through work.

A good, strong and classic name.

My only reservation would be the concern that it would be shortened to Connie which I'm not keen on.

pinkandblueflowers · 13/03/2021 21:40

Constance autumn lily is lovely go with that Smile

SportsBlah · 13/03/2021 21:38

I love Constance, it's on my list of current pregnancy turns out to be a girl. Love Bethany too, as either middle or first but please don't spell it wrong just to be different, it'll be a lifelong pain for your daughter having to correct everyone to spell her name 'wrong'.

Chocomel · 13/03/2021 18:33

Daughter - 'it's Betheny. With an e'

Person 'ah. Ok. Yes. BEthany'.

Daughter. 'No. 2 es'.

Person 'ok. BEEthany'.

Daughter 'it's BETHENY. ..... '

Person ........

Daughter 'I don't know why they spelt it like that either'

Chocomel · 13/03/2021 18:26

Betheny is awful. Please don't make up your own spelling. Your friend doesn't have exclusive rights to the name. And if she assumes you've named your daughter after hers, then that's on her. Unless you confirm it, she'll look like an idiot.

BasiliskStare · 13/03/2021 18:18

Constance Betheny sounds great to me - although autocorrect kept telling me it should be Bethany - as a second name could that be OK i.e. with an a rather than an e - I prefer Constance to Bethany in whatever spelling

But all best to you @Leanne001

DaenerysD · 13/03/2021 18:07

A friend has a daughter called Constance. Connie for short and I absolutely love both versions ❤️

UnderHisAye · 13/03/2021 18:06

Oh I would go very fancy with a middle name for this!

Constance Gabriella
Constance Arianna
Constance Ariadne

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/03/2021 17:39

If you use Betheny as a first name, she will spend her life having to spell her name, which will likely annoy her. If you are really worried about your friend thinking you have copied her then use Constance Bethany instead (as middle names are rarely used). Spelling it Betheny will make no difference to your friend (if she was going to be bothered by it anyway) as Betheny sounds exactly the same as Bethany!

ellenpartridge · 13/03/2021 17:17

Constance is ok, Connie is nice, Betheny with that spelling is honestly absolutely awful and if someone you know has a Bethany, using your alternative spelling isn't going to stop them commenting about it!
