I'm now nearly 32 weeks due a little boy who will be boy number 3! We are really struggling with names.

Some names we like are

Artie
Max
Gus (hubby hates this 😩)
Archie
Teddy

We are particularly drawn to names ending in the 'ie' sound. We don't want a long name as middle name and surname are quite long.

Thoughts on above names and can you suggest anymore?

Teddy is an undignified name for a grown man & there are 100s at the moment so I'd go with Rufus.

Kaboomba · 31/03/2021 17:12

So we still haven't decided and we're now 4 weeks out 🙈

It's been narrowed to two

Rufus and Teddy

@sammylilac- I was going to say I know a dog called Rex.

Ellmau · 12/03/2021 22:11

Louis
Cary
Henry
Stanley
Harley

sammylilac · 11/03/2021 21:18

Surely I’m not the only one who thinks Rex is a dogs name?

Artie is lovely. What about Remy? Raffy is nice too.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 11/03/2021 19:43

Show about

Finley
Stanley
Charlie
Albie

@tigerbread20

We are going for Arnold, nn Arnie. It's dropped so far off the common name lists you might not have considered it?
That’s actually lovely, would never have thought of that 😍
ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 11/03/2021 18:38

Love Rufus, such a fab name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/03/2021 18:21

I love Rufus - a quirky but underused classic. Rex is a cool sound, but I'm not sure I'd want to risk the dog comments so I personally prefer similar Lex. Artie is quite cutesy imo and also blends into all the other popular Archie's/Alfie's for me so I think it might date.

Brodie? Henry? Magnus?

Mistyminion · 11/03/2021 18:03

Otis

Kaboomba · 11/03/2021 13:53

We like Arnie but hubby's friends dog is called that lol!

My 2 faves are Rex and Rufus, hubby likes Artie best.

Archie was on the list but Megan and Harry have ruined it for us recently lol!

Hubby has said no to anything that can be shortened to Gus, no clue why he has such an aversion to it Hmm I did say Angus (we're Scottish) or Fergus but that was a big fat no lol!

Love Rex
I don't think people will think you copied Stacy it's well enough used now
Fearne cotton also has a Rex
I would never assume anyone copied her either, just a nice name

Axel ?

Chunkymenrock · 11/03/2021 13:48

Ashley?

MadamMiddle · 11/03/2021 13:44

Love Artie, Archie and Teddy!
Rex sounds like a dogs name to me, sorry.

Also I hate it when people go for a longer name on the birth certificate but want to call their child the nickname. If you prefer the nickname just call them that officially 😊

Recipe123 · 11/03/2021 09:49

I love Artie!
Sonny?

NewtoHolland · 11/03/2021 09:28

Love Rex!
What about Otis?
I prefer Angus to Gus, don't know if that would make a difference to your DH?
Toby? Has that ie sound
Remi.

mamablondie33 · 11/03/2021 09:24

@Anotherdayanotherdollar Fern Cotton also has a Rex, I really like it!

mamablondie33 · 11/03/2021 09:23

Artie - Not sure as an actual name but can be short for Arthur.
Max - LOVE
Gus - I actually do like this!
Archie - yes I like. I know a very sweet little Archie.
Teddy- also like.

Other ideas:

Kit
Felix
Wilfred (Wilf)

@sarah13xx

The fact Stacey Solomon has used Rex is what’s putting me off it too but think it’s a lovely name and probably hardly anyone would even know her son’s name. Also waiting to see what Mrs Hinch uses so it doesn’t sound like I’ve copied hers 😂

I love the short nickname on the birth certificate, it’s really modern and cute. Kit is another nice one! I’m a teacher and there’s a Kit in my class. I’m having the same issue with the fact there’s a reason I can’t use every single name I think of or my partner isn’t keen on it 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't understand this....
  1. Stacey Solomon wasn't the first person to use it.
  2. Most people won't realise that Stacey Solomon has a child called rex
  3. Almost every name will have been used by someone else previously

Is Stacey Solomon your sister or close friend or something??

Lemonlemon88 · 11/03/2021 08:51

Kit?

May2021Mummy · 11/03/2021 08:49

I really like Rex my friend has a little boy called Rex and he's the cutest

Good luck

FamilyOfAliens · 11/03/2021 07:59

It's more we actually don't like the full name version of the nickname.

Oh I see. I was thinking that it might be nice to give him a choice in case he likes the full version of his name and not the nickname version.

I was called the nickname version of my name all through my childhood and adolescence but have chosen to go by the full version in adulthood as I much prefer it.

I love Max, I think it’s a totally lovely name. Archie, Teddy & Artie are ok but not my taste. I don’t like Rex or Rufus much at all. I like previous suggestions of Toby & Coby, they seem like they’d fit with your list. Although I’m not keen on Teddy I do like Theo. I also like -

Finn
Eli
Bobby
Freddie
Rocco
Leo
