Vinnie or Jenson?

sarah13xx · 09/03/2021 16:31

Which name do you prefer, Vinnie (nickname Vin) or Jenson (nickname Jens)?

both names are really unusual here in Scotland - only 11 called Vinnie in the last year and 26 called Jenson

@MadamMiddle

Love Jenson! Considered it for my little boy. Hate Vinnie/Vincent, sounds like a 40yr old thug name to me sorry
I think he’s going to end up being Jenson. I try and like other names but just can’t take to them because I feel like he’s already called Jenson! X

@Amdone123

I love Vincent. I don't like Jenson. From your list, I like Rudy. Not with an i, though. I feel that you really like Jenson, so i think you should go with that.
Haha yes I think you’re right 😂 so hard when you’re keeping the name a secret but want to know what other people think! Really I should just go with what we like though, there will be people who like or dislike it whatever we call him

I don't like either. Vinnie reminds me of an old East End man in a flat cap holding a pint of ale. Jenson is a bit nothingey. But your list is nice! I LOVE Rudy, Felix, Rafe and Jasper. I like Ralph, Rowan and Theo.

giggly · 10/03/2021 02:41

Sorry op but I’m wondering why they’re not popular names in Scotland Hmm not keen on either too much Vinnje Jones and Jenson Butler for-me. Out of your list I’d go for Freddie, not so common and not trying too hard to be different.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 10/03/2021 02:27

Jenson is awful . Vincent nn Vinnie is great , Vincent was on our list if we had a boy .

DarcyJack · 10/03/2021 01:18

Vincent would be good. Rowan or Jasper are okay

fairydustandpixies · 10/03/2021 00:47

🤢 Vinnie

🥰 Jenson

Firebird83 · 10/03/2021 00:34

Vincent is nice but not Vinnie as the full name.

Jenson is chavvy.

glassshoes · 09/03/2021 23:11

Raphael, with Raphie as a nickname? Know someone super cool called that....

scrivette · 09/03/2021 23:05

The 2 Jenson's in the school are in England.

I think you like Jenson the most from what you have said!

sarah13xx · 09/03/2021 20:26

@SwimmingInToys

Vincent is a naughty boy's name? Confused I didn't realise that was how it worked
😂 If mine is Vincent/Vinnie unfortunately for him after years of being an infant teacher he will absolutely not get away with being naughty and will be the best behaved child in his class so that will not be true for him 😂

KirstenBlest · 09/03/2021 19:09

Wouldn't choose Vincent or Jenson. Vincent is a naughty boy's name and Jenson is downmarket.

Vinnie - dislike
Harris - not keen but it isn't awful
Arlo - dislike
Freddie - not keen
Reggie - ok but may be a bit downmarket
Jenson - dislike
Roman - dislike
Theo - dislike
Rex - ok, but probably more popular than you think
Rowan - ok, but all the Romans will make is a pita
Felix - not keen
Ralph - dislike
Jax - awful
Rafe - dislike
Rudi - ok
Jasper - ok

I know a Rudi (German chap) so I'd choose it because he's great, he sort of says ir Rrrrooodi.

partyatthepalace · 09/03/2021 19:02

Some lovely names

Rafe, Rowan, Jasper, Theo, Arlo, Freddie are all great, Ralph and Rudi also nice. Harris and Roman I think will date fast but they are Ok.

Vinnie and Reggie, and even more Jex, Rex and Jenson I would avoid because I think they either already are seen as downmarket (Jex and Jenson) or will be in the next couple years.

sarah13xx · 09/03/2021 18:55

@partyatthepalace

Oooh, I think they are both pretty grim OP. Jenson I think is deffo downmarket and will be in the same category as Ryan or Taylor in 5 years. Vinnie is also pretty thuggish, but if you call him Vincent it’s a bit better as at least is a name.

Enzo is quite fun though...

I don’t know if it will here unless Jenson majorly soars 200 places up the charts really quickly! Any of the above names from my previous comment?

@user1493494961

Have you got a third choice?
My full list is: Vinnie Harris Arlo Freddie Reggie Jenson Roman Theo Rex Rowan Felix Ralph Jax Rafe Rudi Jasper

There’s just none I’m dead set on!

I like Vincent but not Vinnie.

Jenson is ok but the ones I know are known as Jen, which sounds feminine to me.

baubled · 09/03/2021 18:29

Ah I love Vinnie, if it was me I would go for that out of the two

user1493494961 · 09/03/2021 18:28

Viviennemary · 09/03/2021 18:14

Both pretty dire. But Jensen is better than Vinnie

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/03/2021 18:12

Of the two, Jenson - it's very trendy here (though I understand it's not where you are) but has a nice enough sound. Vinnie is either a bit cutesy sounding or an Italian American mobster to me (I quite like Vincent though).

emmathedilemma · 09/03/2021 17:48

I'm in Scotland and whilst I don't know any my gut feel for Jenson is chavy. Sorry.
I think Vinnie definitely needs to be Vincent "officially".
