Baby (DC1) will be here in three weeks and we’ve settled on these four names:
Grace
Lucy
Anna
Camilla

Lucy Elizabeth
Grace Eliza
Anna Esme
Camilla Jane

Tough choice!

I know they’re all popular and in the top 50/60.

I don’t mind too much about popularity, but wondered if Grace was actually that popular as a FN (I know all girls have it as a MN).

Anna strikes me as simple and elegant, timeless. Lucy is timeless too but with a less formal and more cheerful feel. Camilla is a bit of an outlier, I just like the sound of it and don’t mind the royal associations. I’ve always loved Grace with the caveat that it might be too common.

Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts, thanks a lot! Flowers

Lucy.
Grace.

CoffeeRunner · 04/03/2021 20:26

Really really do not like Grace.

Lucy is my favourite of your choices, followed by Anna & then Camilla.

Retrievemysanity · 04/03/2021 20:24

Camilla Grace is beautiful. Love Milly and Cami as shortened versions too. Nothing ‘wrong’ with the others but I do think Anna is quite boring and don’t think Lucy sounds great on adults.

GreenIcing · 04/03/2021 20:23

Anna Grace or Camilla Grace

sorryforswearing · 04/03/2021 20:18

I suggested Anna to my friend when she had her daughter 30 plus years ago. She used it after considering Anne but deciding it was a little plain. I still love it so that would be my choice.

partyatthepalace · 04/03/2021 20:15

Camilla would be my choice
Anna - love it but very popular right now
Lucy - nice but bit cutsey little girl
Grace - don’t like the sound - like grease

Camilla Jane is a bit 1970s - Camilla Elizabeth, or Camilla Anna Elizabeth??

Whatsyourflava · 04/03/2021 20:06

I just love Anna so much

Lucy is also one of my favourite names

I don't like Camilla. Too frilly but ok

Firebird83 · 04/03/2021 19:41

Anna Jane or Anna Elizabeth. I wouldn’t go with Anna Grace as Anna actually means Grace, so it would be like naming her Grace Grace!

Wrennie24 · 04/03/2021 19:36

Anna Grace is just beautiful. Anna is such a pretty name, underused and classic.

Starsandglitter · 04/03/2021 19:35

I actually really like Camilla (lovely on its own but could do nn Cami or Milly) and it’s far less popular than the others. I can’t get too excited about Anna or Lucy as just know far too many. They are all nice enough whatever you go for though x

Thanks a lot @IamnotwhouthinkIam :)

Anna Esme is my favourite - a very classic, lovely, international first name with a more popular but slightly quirky sounding middle.

Camilla Jane is my second choice - I love the elegant Camilla although I recognise it's more marmite (so less "safe" than Anna). Jane is also very classic and makes a refreshing change now to the usual similar 1 syllable middles (Grace, Rose or May).

Lucy is too cutesy for me and Grace (even in the first name spot) a bit popular for my taste, sorry. Elizabeth is lovely, although I find similar Eliza a bit trendy sounding at the moment (although it doesn't really matter as a middle name).

LouNatics · 04/03/2021 19:17

I like Anna as a name but I went to school with two Annas who marked all their work with Anna B and Anna L - I’m sure you can see the problem with the latter. Now as an adult I have a friend who is another Anna L but in fact her last name is Lay (changed on marriage). I mean, she takes it in good humour but I would never have ever considered changing my name to that if I had been her.

So I’d steer clear unfortunately.

If you love Grace, I’d have Grace, Grace Eliza or Grace Elizabeth.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 04/03/2021 19:11

I love both Anna Grace and Grace Elizabeth that have been suggested here.

Also I quite like Elizabeth and it's a very versatile name that can become many others later on if you or she want it to.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/03/2021 18:49

I like Camilla Grace as you've still got your favourite Grace in there.

ParisJeTAime · 04/03/2021 18:41

My favourites are Lucy Elizabeth and Camilla Jane.

babynamelover · 04/03/2021 18:10

I vote for Anna, my name 😁.
I think a longer middle flows better mine is Michelle I also like Margaret, Madeleine and Lucinda.

WhirlingGerbil · 04/03/2021 18:04

When we had our son, we'd agreed his name months in advance. I almost ended up changing it. Months after we registered his birth, it didn't feel right. He did "grow into" it eventually (his eyes completely changed colour at 2 for one thing), and I don't regret the name we chose now, but for months I was convinced we'd got it wrong.

This time we picked 3 for DD. She didn't look like any of them so we chose something completely different.

Sunnyday321 · 04/03/2021 18:04

I love the name Grace and would have called my dd it.
The only thing that put me off was the worry that ' Grace ' would grow up to be a 6ft , solid looking , dm wearing woman who hated her name.

Yellowbowlbanana · 04/03/2021 18:00

Anna Grace
Beautiful classic name. I love the name Anna.

KirstenBlest · 04/03/2021 17:58

Lucy Elizabeth - lovely
Grace Eliza - not keen on either
Anna Esme - combination doesn't flow, not keen on Esme
Camilla Jane - both nice but made me think of Calamity Jane

I'm from the age group where every girl was Something Anne or Something Jane so I'm not keen on them as middle names. Grace has become a filler middle name too

I'd go for Anna Elizabeth or Lucy Elizabeth

IsolaPribby · 04/03/2021 17:55

I have a Lucy Elizabeth, so totally biased to that!

Floralnomad · 04/03/2021 17:54

Aside from Camilla they are all a bit meh so I’d go with that . Had you considered Cressida ?

cherrytreecottage · 04/03/2021 17:51

@scubadub

Can I throw another into the mix Anna Grace?
I love the name Grace! But Anna Grace really does sound beautiful
Janedamaz · 04/03/2021 17:51

@PatsyStone39 I’m starting to think I spent way too much time in lockdown...I don’t know any little Grace or adult Grace! I know plenty of Anna and Lucy though. I know the data says you’re right, I just don’t know where they all are! I live in Greater London btw
