@toastofthetown thank you so much! This is my new fave website!
OP what about Heston? I know everyone thinks of the chef but I think it's such a cool name. If it didn't clash with my surname it would deff be a contender!

Cissyandflora · 04/03/2021 11:01

They are two of my favourite names. I’d go with Hector. If I get another pet he will have to be Hector as unfortunately I won’t be having another baby. Otto, Theo (Tay-oh) and Giles are great too.

OP, do you follow Chloe and beans on Instagram? She has an Otto and Cosmo! I always loved the name Otto after following her Grin

GemmeFatale · 04/03/2021 09:36

My little one has one of the suggested names.

Most of my shortlist is here too.

I wonder if my taste is suddenly going to become popular

Violetlavenders · 04/03/2021 08:55

Hector has an unfortunate meaning (to hector) and t to be nickname Heck isn't great?!

Otto is a comical German name imo. I'm not keen at all.

How about
Miles
Quentin
Rufus

Here is the Scottish version of the name website, but I think it is a bit better as it shows names where only one child has been called that in a year (those names are excluded from the E&W data). Obviously it is a smaller pool but as it is goes back decades it includes hundreds of thousands of registrations.

scotland.shinyapps.io/nrs-baby-names/

Also keep an eye on the Telegraph and Times birth announcements for unusual suggestions.

Zeb/Zebedee

Hector isn't especially my taste but I like it's classical origins and it seems perfectly usable. Otto, I struggle to take seriously - it has a comedic German stereotype image to me.

Uncommon names I like:
Corin
Evander
Emrys
Caspian
Bram
Leif
Asa
Zev
Orion
Gaius
Maxim
Elias
Rufus
Hugh
Leal
Heath
Laith
Apollo
Altair
