Sister for Emily

Mncrmum · 03/03/2021 20:50

We’ve just had our 20 week scan and found out that we’re having another little girl. :)

Starting to consider names, we have an Emily but thinking of either

  1. Lucy
  2. Beth

Struggling!! Any thoughts welcome.

Lucy is nice

I also like Amelia and Charlotte

Edenember · 31/03/2021 21:11

In my head I partner Sophie / Sophia, Anna, Hannah etc. Of your options I prefer Lucy. How about Imogen?

HeadlessGummyBears · 31/03/2021 20:47

I’m not sure why but I first thought of Elizabeth. You can have Beth as a nickname and Alice or Lucy as a middle name?

mamablondie33 · 31/03/2021 19:15

Definitely Alice!

Emily is so beautiful and timeless. I’m not sure Lucy and Beth are; they seem a bit dated to me whereas Emily has stood the test of time so to speak.

Other ideas:
Isobel/Isabelle
Grace
Charlotte
Harriet
Olivia

I love Alice - works perfectly with classic Emily.

Less keen on Lucy (too cute for me, I prefer similar Sophie) and Beth is a bit too nickname (though weirdly I love similar Tess even though it's a nn!)

Would also suggest Laura, Hannah, Sarah, Anna, Charlotte, Julia, Lydia or Isabel.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 03/03/2021 21:55

Alice is lovely and goes well with Emily
I also know sisters Emily and Rachel

Stargazer89 · 03/03/2021 21:51

@Mncrmum we must have similar tastes because Emily is one of my all time favourites but we couldn’t use it for our DD because of a close family member called Emily. We went for Alice (I love it and just feel like it’s timeless) and we had Kate on our list and is a potential if we have another daughter.

DramaAlpaca · 03/03/2021 21:19

Lucy or Alice. Either would be perfect with Emily.

HerNameIsY0shimi · 03/03/2021 21:17

@MumofSpud

I am an Emily and my DM is Lucy (not sure how helpful that is!)
I mentioned a Lucy who has an Emily up thread! But I don't think it's you, unless you are an extremely advanced 1yo Grin

AMMCIAC · 03/03/2021 21:10

Oops, I meant Lucy or Alice!

AMMCIAC · 03/03/2021 21:09

Congratulations! Emily or Alice.

partyatthepalace · 03/03/2021 21:08

Lucy is nice but two y ends are a bit samey, so personally I’d go for Beth as a nn for Elizabeth - or other thoughts Kate as a nn for Katharine, Nell as a nn for Eleanor, Jess as a nn for Jessica, Bea as a nn for Beatrice, Meg as a nn for Margaret...

Otherwise Anna, Charlotte, Florence, Harriet, Alice, May, Grace, Madeleine, Flora, Clara all go well

wintertime6 · 03/03/2021 21:08

Love both your names. Other suggestions are Clara or Celia.

Mncrmum · 03/03/2021 21:08

@Stargazer89 thank you! Our Emily is Emily Kate, so love Kate. Alice would be my #2nd choice, OH not as keen.

Olivia, Alrxandra, Diana or Charlotte

Kanaloa · 03/03/2021 21:05

Lovely names, think I’d choose Beth because I think Emily & Beth sounds really good. I like Lucy as well though.
