Hi all,

Short list for boys names and just wondered what other people would choose:

Eli, Holden, Henry or Wyatt

Just want to know which people would choose, so please don't comment if you don't like any.

Eli is nice.
Holden and Wyatt are not my taste at all.
Henry is traditional but I hate everything associated with Henry the Eighth.

Wanderlust20 · 03/03/2021 23:17

Henry - it's a classic, you can't go wrong.

BallsToYouSue · 03/03/2021 20:48

I love Wyatt! But wonder if it doesn't translate well from the states to the UK..? Would it maybe get lumped in with less cool names like Wayne or surnamey names like Tyler...

Eli is lovely too.

I also really like Henry!

The only one I don't like is Holden. It screams Salinger and I didn't like the character at all. Also Holden McGroin and other 'witty' jokes will happen I think, which is annoying.

Eli

My choice would be Henry or Eli, if short for Elias or Elijah. Dislike Wyatt and Holden is a surname.

MadamMiddle · 03/03/2021 09:50

@Marty13

Actually my son's middle name is Ilya, which is the russian form of Eli/Elias.
Llya looks lovely, thank you I will update when we have made a decision 😁

The only one I like is Eli ! I also think it'd be even better as a nickname for Elias, but it's also very nice on its own. I actually like biblical names, which is ironic as I'm an atheist...
please do let us know which one you pick !

Henry, Holden and Wyatt are surnames. Eli 🤷🏼‍♂️

LionMother · 02/03/2021 23:46

@BellamyBells

Eli or maybe Wyatt, depending on how it goes with the surname
Same
AlwaysLatte · 02/03/2021 23:41

Not keen on overly religious names or those that sound like a surname - so Henry!

MadamMiddle · 02/03/2021 23:40

@IamnotwhouthinkIam

Henry is lovely, if quite popular. Wyatt is very cool, but I wonder if it could date. Eli is okay, but I prefer it as a nn for Elias. Holden is also okay but very "Catcher in the Rye" for me, if that matters?

For me it is between Henry and Wyatt but they are very different in style!

I've never read the book so wouldn't matter for me, agree about Eli as a nn I love the sound but don't love the look written

I really like Henry but know a lot of them so personally wouldn't use it. I love Eli - I'd say that's my favourite from your list.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 02/03/2021 18:50

I really like Holden and only know one - I'd go for that.

pilates · 02/03/2021 18:24

That’s a mixed bag but I would go for Henry

BabyBee93 · 02/03/2021 18:20

Eli is beautiful and also on my boys name list

waterlego · 02/03/2021 18:16

Eli or Henry for me.

The other two sound too American for my taste (I have nothing against America or Americans at all, for the record- just not keen on some of the naming trends in the US!

noname55 · 02/03/2021 18:13

Henry or Eli

Kanaloa · 02/03/2021 18:09

Eli & Henry are lovely, I like Eli best. I do like Holden but not sure I’d use it, it’s a bit more out there. I’m not keen on Wyatt.

Nell96 · 02/03/2021 17:52

Henry from your list, not keen on the others.

KirstenBlest · 02/03/2021 17:10

Eli - don't like
Holden - Amanda and Caulfield
Henry - fine, but not a name I'd choose
Wyatt - not keen

Henry's the best of the bunch

Sunnyrainydays · 02/03/2021 17:05

Eli looks unfinished to me, will it be short for Elijah or Elias?

LeonaMar · 02/03/2021 16:51

Eli or Wyatt are my faves. My son goes to nursery with a little Eli and it’s so lovely!
Also like Henry but it’s quite popular in my area so I would go for Eli or Wyatt

Standrewsschool · 02/03/2021 16:41

Wyatt
