Pretty girls names that don't end in an e or a sound...

I'm stuck. Our DD's name ends in a vowel sound and though I love her name, everywhere I go all I hear is more names that end in the same. So this time round I'm wanting to find a name that ends in a consonant sound but is equally pretty. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone - I notice some e and y names creeping in to suggestions Grin . Niamh is gorgeous but I don't know whether it would be a bit of cultural appropriation as we have no Irish heritage.
I'm Irish. Believe me, we don't mind if you use the name Niamh Smile

Eloise is quite nice or Lois.

The thing is a or y names seem more grown up so harder to picture on a baby.

isitmeorjusteveryoneelse · 02/03/2021 11:47

I would say most babies I know born recently ( and thats boys and girls ) here are all ie endings. I think the a endings are less popular.

Seem to all be Archie/ Freddie / Teddy / Ronnie

Ellie/ Lottie / Betty / Dottie /

I like Erin which has a Nina vibe I feel. Or a flower name like Primrose ?

Some of these are repeats of what others have posted, just take those as me seconding their suggestions! I assume you don't mind it ending in an 'e' as long as it's a consonant sound.

Isabelle/Isabel/Isobel
Harriet
Elizabeth
Rachel
Catherine/Katherine
Caitlyn
Charlotte
Emmaline (-een pronunciation)
Evangeline (-een pronunciation)
Madeline (-lynn pronunciation)
Rose/Rosamund/Rosalind
Christine (ends in an 'n' sound)
Claudine (-een pronunciation)
Eve (I wasn't sure but people suggested Niamh which is the same sound)
Juliet
Violet
Jasmine

I was like you with girls names. I liked Elizabeth, Catherine, Eleanor, Cerys and Imogen

NoSquirrels · 02/03/2021 10:30

@TradedAtlanta

Wow what a swift response! I do like Imogen but have a cousin with this name. I also like Grace but DH not keen. Vowel ending names I like are things like Amelie, Lila, Ella, Nina.

OP was replying to:

What’s “pretty” to you? Any examples of the e/a names you like to get an idea?

She's doesn't want any e/a names but showed the ones she liked so people could suggest other names that are similar but end in different sounds.

Is it the vowel sound or look you don't want though?

Verity has an e sound, Giselle has an el sound. Which one don't you like?
