Christina Anna or Elizabeth are best - I would go for Christina it makes a real change

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 21/02/2021 23:00

I vote Elizabeth. Lovely.

Not Anna/Anya. They are pretty but two daughters "Miss A Smith, 1 Anylane Road". Nightmare.

3CCC · 21/02/2021 22:19

Eliana. Dislike
Isabella5. Meh

Christina 4. Meh
Anna/ Anya 4. Really like Anya not as keen on Anna
Elizabeth - 1. Love love want to name future dd Elizabeth. Plenty of scope for mn
Cassandra 3. Lovely
Helena 2. Nice

Edenember · 21/02/2021 22:07

I like Anna/Anya and Elizabeth

Mrgrinch · 21/02/2021 21:27

Eliana- not a fan of this. Not sure where you're from but in my local dialect it would be dragged out in the middle to eliaaaaana and that would drive me mad.

Isabella- far too popular, 3 in one class at school.

Christina- I don't mind this but it depends how you feel about Chrissy/Tina as majority of people would likely shorten it.

Anna/ Anya- I like this but trying to say "Alexandra and Anna/Anya" is a mouthful.

Elizabeth- lovely name, again nickname to be considered.

Cassandra- hate this one, sorry.

Helena- by far my favourite, very classic and timeless.

EdgeOfACoin · 21/02/2021 21:19

Elizabeth is a classic royal name that goes well with Alexandra (also a classic royal name).

I like Christina but I don't know if Chrissie and Alex are a bit of an '80s combination.

Ijustlikedthename · 21/02/2021 20:20

Love Eliana and Cassandra although I think the latter is to close to Alexandra

LivLavender · 21/02/2021 19:08

I love Cassandra and Helena. I'd choose the latter for Alexandra's sister, I don't like rhyming names for siblings.

LiqueurPleaseRoger · 21/02/2021 10:43

To honor your Grandfather and (I'm assuming) Hebrew roots I would suggest using an EL (meaning God in Hebrew) name like Eliana as a Middle Name.
EL names are currently quite popular so you may want to avoid as a first name but it depends how you feel about it on a personal note. For e.g according to last years name data Ella is abundantly popular and there are many others.

From your list I would personally go with:
Helena Elizabeth.
Just beautiful.

Some names that both begin with EL and are Hebrew:
Eliora
Elisheva
Ela

Otherwise I would stick to Elizabeth.

IMO Eliana and Alexandra are too similar sounding to be a sib set.

Good luck 🙂!

Fifthtimelucky · 21/02/2021 10:23

My favourite as a name is Elizabeth but I think Helena goes best with Alexandra (possibly because I already know sisters with those names)!

I like Helena and Anna. Isabella is OK but I prefer Isobel. Not keen on any of the rest.

Gazelda · 21/02/2021 10:22

Beautiful names!

My faves would be Anna, Elizabeth or Helena. All classy and go well with Alexandra.

EileenGC · 21/02/2021 10:17

Isabella or Helena would be my choice.

CaffiSaliMali · 21/02/2021 10:12

Eliana - l like it and knew how to pronounce it. It clearly has a lot of meaning for you and goes well with Alexandra.

Isabella - lovely, very popular though. It's an old name, makes me think of medieval queens and it goes well with Alexandra.

Christina - I like it, it's pretty and another old name. Goes well with Alexandra.

Anna/ Anya - both lovely, prefer Anya. They're very short compared to Alexandra and are other A names.

Elizabeth - classic and goes well with Alexandra.

Cassandra - love it and Cassie and Cassia. It is similar to Alexandra though. Alex and Cassie go well if you're happy to use shortening day to day.

Helena - it's ok, which pronunciation?

Katharine and Eleanor would go well with Alexandra.

VenusClapTrap · 21/02/2021 09:11

I like Helena, Anna and Christina, in that order.

Toocold · 21/02/2021 07:08

Are you set on those names OP? All are lovely, just wondering if you’d considered Harriet or Victoria? Alexandra Penelope is lovely 😊

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 21/02/2021 06:37

For Alexandra's sister, Elizabeth and Helena 'go' the best. I'd also suggest Eleanor or Leonora.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 21/02/2021 06:36

Eliana - too frilly, too many 'el' names about
Isabella - nice but too popular
Christina - a bit dated
Anna/ Anya - both nice
Elizabeth - good nickname options
Cassandra - a bit dated
Helena - nice, if pronounced 'Helen-a' (don't like 'Helayna'. Love nickname Nell

DramaAlpaca · 21/02/2021 00:42

My favourite as a sister to Alexandra is Christina.

mathanxiety · 21/02/2021 00:38

I love Helena.

I like Cassandra too, if shortened to Cass. I don't think I'd ever use the long version.

Krazynights34 · 21/02/2021 00:38

Eliana is my favourite and was on my list of girls names (I chose Lydia in the end)

Jackie2022 · 21/02/2021 00:35

I feel like Elizabeth suits Alexandra the most

Tambourina · 21/02/2021 00:33

Eliana - no
Isabella - lovely
Christina - nice
Anna/ Anya - both lovely
Elizabeth - nice
Cassandra - no
Helena - lovely

Synchrony · 21/02/2021 00:30

I like them all except Eliana which doesn't sound good to my ear with Alexandra.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/02/2021 00:02

@Lillylola

For those who have asked yes the pronunciation is Ellie- ah-na . It’s the female version of Elias (my father ) and it’s of Hebrew origin. Cassandra unfortunately is very similar to Alexandra and that’s why I like it , but I guess it’s a no. Thank you for the new suggestions as well.
Ah I understand why you like Eliana then, that's a lovely connection (and Elias is one of my fave boys names). Do you live in the UK? Ellie variants are very popular here currently (compared to more classic Alexandra) which is what may be putting some posters off, because objectively Eliana is very pretty and works well style wise with Alexandra (multiple vowel sounds and 4 syllables).

Cassandra also has the "Only Fools and Horses" thing in the UK but not so much elsewhere (and kids are less likely to aware of it anyway). If you really love it (and it sounds like it's your fave?) then I wouldn't let that or it having the same ending as Alexandra put you off. Lots of people have 2 or more kids names ending in the same sounds (-ia, - ah or -y/ie) so I think people would get used to both DD's names ending in the less common -andra.

Firebird83 · 20/02/2021 22:22

Lovely names. I think Helena or Christina go best with Alexandra.
