Octavia?

Interested to hear what people think of the name Octavia for a girl please?
Baby is due in August and we also got married in August so the eighth has significance for us, I'm really warming towards it.
I know it is a Skoda 😂 but that doesn't bother me too much!

I love it. It’s so elegant. A grown up name. I’d love a sophisticated name like Octavia. It would suit at all stages of life too. And be really adorable on a little girl.

It makes me think of Octavia Butler, who I love.

It's a lovely name. If I were to have a DD, it would definitely be on the shortlist!

Quite common where I live (Latin-language speaking). Girls tend to shorten it to Tavie (Tay-vi) or Tavia.

Reminds me of Octavia Butler and Octavia Spencer.

It's quite a big name. Not sure I love it. But I don't hate it. I do really like Tavi for short.

Tavy by some of her friends, but mostly Octavia by us.
It was the day the Beijing Olympics started.

Does her name get shortened at all?
I've never heard of anyone with the name except Octavia Spencer

I've got an Octavia! Born 8/8/8. We would have called her Octavia anyway though regardless of birthday.

@DreamingInColours yes baby is due in August and we married in August 😊 I believe 8 is very lucky in Chinese cultures aswell

I think it’s fabulous.
Nn could be Tavi or Tavia.
But as you said, something else might organically develop, or nothing. As Octavia is such a lovely name by itself.

Does the number 8 hold any significance for you ?
Personally I find the name too fussy but can see the appeal.
