Bluebells are beautiful flowers but the name conjures up an image of cows for me too I'm afraid. It's more of a middle name for me.

Marigold nn Mari is nice as suggested above. Marigold is an established name as is Mari, which is Welsh for Mary. So she could use either day to day.

Other flowers have names - rose, lily, iris, daisy.
"Bluebell" is a description, like snowdrop, red-hot poker, goldenrod.
I think that's why these aren't used as names - either "Blue" or "Belle" do work as names.

Far too twee, know any doctors or lawyers that are called Bluebell? As someone with a dated name within a professional career, that's how I set my bar.

I love bluebells and it is cute but agree with PPs, would you want that to be your name at 35/40?

A 25 year old Bluebell going for a big job in a smart suit and wanting to seem oh so serious, “Nice to meet you, I’m Bluebell”

Or a 38 year old stressed out mum of 2 on the school run who couldn’t feel less like a Bluebell if she tried.

Or even a 13 year old who is self conscious that she has acne and is gaining weight and doesn’t feel remotely cute or beautiful right now.

I know a Bluebell. She must be about 13 or 14 now. Her family call her Bells. They make it work as they are quite a hip and upmarket family, but I wonder how it would work in a different family.

I thought this was a beautiful name when I was pregnant. My DP laughed and said no way are we using. I'm so glad he rejected it. It's ridiculous in the cold light of day now I'm away from pregnancy hormones

I seldom comment on names. Blue ell is a name I instantly associate with a cow. I don't know why but clearly something in my past told it was a cow name.

Your daughter may wish to enter a profession that is relatively conservative and requires a strong presence. The odd few could carry off the name Bluebell but most would struggle.

PP has said Geri Halliwell named her child Bluebell & it really doesn’t suit her , as she is rather plain . I expect Geri thought she would resemble her not her father! There is an actress Honeysuckle Weeks , she seems to suit her long flowery name but I wouldn’t use it myself.

When people ask about names like this I always think: “Would you like it to be your name? Would you, a 35 year old woman, like to introduce yourself as that at work?”
I think some people forget they’re having a human with a whole life, not just a baby Grin
Save Bluebelle for a pet, or at a push a quirky middle name.

I used to work with an adult who was actually called Tinkerbell. Not surprisingly she didn't tell anyone it was her name and used her middle name.

I've never seen the point of middle names unless to honour a dead relative or the married person's maiden name. (Scottish thing).

Bluebell is wasted as a middle name! :)
