Lily and Annabeth as sibilings?

We are expecting a baby girl! We already have a Lily and my husband and i are thinking of naming our baby daughter Annabeth! We aren't sure about it though, so we need some opinions on it. What do you guys think?

But if you are really into Little House on The Prairie, then hey go for it 🤷‍♀️

FlamingGreatGalaahs · 14/02/2021 08:10

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee Annabeth sounds American and not in a good way. Just my opinion.

This does not mean that names "from other cultures" are all bad. Not sure why someone has inferred that Hmm

occa · 13/02/2021 22:20

I'm really not a fan of Annabeth, but couldn't say exactly why.

It's clearly entirely my oddness as I really like both Annabel and Elizabeth, but Annabeth just sounds...twee? wet? I don't know, can't put my finger on it, but it's not for me. Sorry.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 22:15

Sure thing

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

I don’t do schoolGate I work FT, never have done it?**@CeeceeBloomingdale**
I meant you're behaving like a school child.
Mrstwiddle · 13/02/2021 22:11

Quite twee

BusySittingDown · 13/02/2021 22:07

Lovely! Really like Annabeth.

BallsToYouSue · 13/02/2021 22:07

I'm a US citizen FWIW and I think heel's post was really aggressive and a personal attack. Are you on the Wine heel? It's the only thing I can think of tbh... very angry!

I'm of Irish heritage and have seen names called 'too Irish' btw. It is not good, but it isn't unheard of on here and none of the Irish people on those threads resorted to nasty personal attacks 🤷‍♀️.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2021 22:05

Yeah, obtuseness makes me fizz. Hope school opens up again for you soon heels

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 22:04

Yup

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2021 22:04

That was to @HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee, the thread has moved on

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 22:04

You’re somewhat aerated cee

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2021 22:03

I didnt suggest Anna as a nn, I suggested Anna (first name) Beth (middle name). Yes of course Anna is a diminutive, I didn't feel the name label that as its obvious Hmm. I address my daughters as first name and middle name as a pet name. Call it what you will but don't tell me what I do is wrong. Are you going go pick fault with everyone on this thread? Why are you so invested? Is your name Annabeth?

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 22:02

Yes report as you wish @IamnotwhouthinkIam
And...

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 22:01

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

Oh don’t do that mannered faux naïveté. You wrote an obnoxious post *@IamnotwhouthinkIam* And got pulled up on it
I've reported your violent post, mine was perfectly polite - there's nothing wrong with saying a name sounds American, many posters have said the same thing and will again about other names.
PattyPan · 13/02/2021 22:00

I think they’re fine together but Annabeth sounds like you’ve got a lisp.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 21:59

I love many "Non-English" names and I wouldn't be offended if someone told me that using my beloved Selene would seem odd if I wasn't Greek, or that my fave Xavier would seem weird if I had no Spanish links - I'd simply take their opinion under advisement if I'd asked for opinions on the name (as OP did), but still use it anyway if I really loved it.

Annabeth does sound quite American to me (and some other pp) but there's nothing wrong with that if that's your style, we are all different! I'm allowed to feel Anna fits better with Lily, just as OP is free to disregard my (or any other posters) advice.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 21:55

Ok,so Anna as a nn isn’t same as Anna Beth. It’s a diminutive

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2021 21:52

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

Call her Anna Beth instead and use Annabeth as a nn That makes no sense same name with a space? AnnaBeth isn’t nn for Anna Beth it’s the same name with a pause
It makes sense to me! On occasions I call both my daughters their first name and middle name as a pet name at home but in public they are just their first names. It's not the same name as Annabeth, Anna would be the name and how she would be known day to day.
HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 21:45

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 21:43
@IamnotwhouthinkIam
Oh belt up and stop being such a snob with a fuckin stick up your arse
How delightful you are. If you get this irate about something as innocuous as someones (polite) opinion on a suggested baby name, I dread to think how your anger issues manifest in real life Biscuit

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 21:38

@danascully96 certain English middle classes come out in hives in it’s not Emma or something v English

They won’t attempt names from any other culture

I've only come across Annabeth in the Percy Jackson books, and I liked it immediately
