Girls name help, due next month!

Fleetw00d · 13/02/2021 16:35

I need some help! OH and I are really struggling for names for our daughter due next month. Before getting pregnant I had a huge list which over the last 8 months I have come to hate haha! Her last name will be Smith so I'm looking for something not super popular considering Smith is a very common last name in England.
Love nature names or names with lovely meanings, but want something with min 2 syllables because of the last name.
Currently I'm liking Zara and other names that have come on and off the list are Lily, Violet, Robyn, Morgan, Maeve and Rosa.

Any inspo would be greatly appreciated :) thank you!

My DD is called Tansy which is a flower name and means eternal life. We love it and get a lot of compliments.

Lollypop4 · 13/02/2021 21:57

my daughter is Thea..., almost same surname as you.
My eldest is Anwen but known as mn morgan

RosesAndHellebores · 13/02/2021 21:50

Oh I think you need something a bit unusual with Smith.

Xanthe
Isolde
Ophelia
Marigold
Lavinia
Meriel
Araminta
Lucinda
Hermione
Felicity
Verity
Natacha
Persephone
Cressida
Mirabel
Christabel

I like Robyn the best. Not too keen on Zara

Yika · 13/02/2021 21:35

I like most of the names on your list, only Maeve doesn't flow well with Smith in my view. I like Morgan

Wonder if any of the following would appeal
Ramona
Paloma
Gaia
Carmen

Edenember · 13/02/2021 21:11

Arlet (East Indian spice / apple variety)
Blossom
Bluebell
Flora
Greta (pearl)
Floure
Iona
Eila
Iris
Mariett(e/a) / Mariann(e/e) - sea
Sylvie
Zorah (dawn)
Sorrel
Margot
Nell (shining light)

From your list I like Robyn and Rosa best, but think Robyn sounds best with surname.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 20:52

Oh and similar to Robyn- you might like Wren or Eden.
Similar to Morgan- Marina, Nerissa, Ondine or Morwenna (all have sea meanings)

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 20:49

Of your list I like Rosa, Maeve and Zara. I'd suggest the pretty, lilting Lilia or elegant, Shakespearean Viola instead of popular Lily and Violet with a common surname like Smith.

Other rarely used name suggestions - nature linked or similar to your choices (sorry for repeats):
Mara
Cassia (a type of spice as well as a Roman name)
Jessamine (older classy variation of Jasmine)
Rosalind
Rosamund
Coralie
Sylvie (means from the woods)
May (unusual as a first name and is a flower)

Liverbird77 · 13/02/2021 20:20

Rowan?

BikeRunSki · 13/02/2021 20:06

Rowan?
Jasmine?
Willow?

MrsMackesy · 13/02/2021 20:04

I like all your names except Morgan. Lily is possibly too commonly used and Violet has possibly become more so recently.

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 20:03

I think Robin Smith works really well, but I would just spell it Robin. If you want something more unusual then I also like Morgan. Both names sound like smart young US detectives!

Zara is Ok, but think Zelda works better. Other thoughts - Nancy, Lois, Meredith, Thora, Sadie.

I think also a longer classic name is also very cool with Smith - Serena, Annabel, Ophelia, Cassia, Susannah, Cordelia

Lily I think is wet at the best of times, and really meh with Smith. Violet and Rosa are nice names but don’t really go. Maeve I just think is ugly (reminds me of Mauve.)

But single syllable - Rose, Eve, Pearl do work well.

Blue2021 · 13/02/2021 20:01

Really love all your names. Robyn and Rosa are my fav though. My girl name if DS was a girl was Adeline (Addie for short) x

Passiveobserver · 13/02/2021 19:58

Robyn is lovely Smile

IggyAce · 13/02/2021 19:51

I love Robyn, how about:
Rosalie
Astrid
Heather
Primrose
Seren

DotDotDotDotDot · 13/02/2021 19:44

I’d suggest Cassie, Scarlett, Fern and Juniper - Good luck choosing.

DotDotDotDotDot · 13/02/2021 19:42

I also think you have a lovely list, I like Rosa and Violet the best, although Robyn is quite cool too.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/02/2021 19:25

Maeve and Rosa are such beautiful names. I also really like Zara

A few suggestions...

Raya
Petra
Lucia
Naomi
Laurel
Beatrix
Hollis
Talitha

AnxiousAnnie86 · 13/02/2021 18:31

Dyinghouseplant · 13/02/2021 17:48

I like Zara, I'd go for that!

Aquamarine1029 · 13/02/2021 17:46

Farrah Smith

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/02/2021 17:45

Love Robyn

Whatsyourflava · 13/02/2021 17:44

Clementine

Chunkymenrock · 13/02/2021 17:36

I only like Zara and Rosa from your list I'm afraid. Violet and Lily are extremely common. Maeve has a very frumpy sound. How about Cassia, Fenella, Heidi, Hazel?
