Are we crazy to name DD this?

Ok - I'm ready for the onslaught here...

But I loveeee the name Ithaca. Our surname is very common, one syllable.

Thoughts?

If you want Greek with an I what about Ianthe or Iolanthe or Ilithya much prettier than Ithaca which is a place name.

I think it's OK as a name (sounding a bit lukewarm, because people may forget the timing of the pandemic and assume it's a place of conception name following a holiday in the Med)

How do you pronounce it? Written down it looks like the sound a cat makes when it’s bringing up a hair ball. Sorry.

I quite like it. Children struggle to pronounce th so she will be Iffica to many for a while, if that bothers you.

It’s not the worst.....it’s a Greek island and a place in New York State. HOWEVER people use place names all the time. If you both like it then why not?

Ithaca, New York was my first thought. I haven't ever heard it as a name just as places.

Unusual - and I think most people will struggle will pronounciation. But it's not awful.
