I didn't think titles were passed on to children born out of wedlock.

EdithWeston · 20/02/2021 22:33

Princess Beatrice's husband is an Italian count, so there is a title to hand on.

But the passing on of titles is something where being born in wedlock matters, so as he was not married to his son's mother, it's quite possible that the title will not pass to him, but to first legitimate child (or son, depending on what the general laws are in Italy, and any specific provisions for this specific title)

mathanxiety · 20/02/2021 22:28

Bea's husband already has a son who would inherit a title presumably

No, unless her husband, the child's father, has a title by his own right.

mathanxiety · 20/02/2021 22:27

What a great name! Really impressed.

Incyra · 20/02/2021 21:44

Think Augustus would have been better for boy!

Marcipex · 20/02/2021 21:24

Well, if it’s true that the Queen vetoed Annabel as too chavvy, goodness knows what Her Majesty will make of August 🤣
Gus is quite cute anyway.

CoffeeRunner · 20/02/2021 19:59

I like it.

Whatsyourflava · 20/02/2021 18:50

Great name. I really like it.

Catterpillar · 20/02/2021 14:31

Maybe they're fans of 'Ride upon the storm'.

viques · 20/02/2021 12:39

@Parker231

Poor baby - why land him with a nightmare name.
He’s already got the nightmare Grandfather and Grandmother, why not go for a hat trick?
unmarkedbythat · 20/02/2021 11:59

It's not nice of me I know, but I proper laughed at the name they have chosen.

Fascinationends · 20/02/2021 11:58

Ah ok, thank you Zoya.

Parker231 · 20/02/2021 11:58

Poor baby - why land him with a nightmare name.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2021 11:57

@Fascinationends you’re thinking of Peter Phillips’s ex-wife.

Nonamesavail · 20/02/2021 11:55

I quite like it

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 11:51

I did momentarily ask myself what month we are in.

Lockdown effect.

viques · 20/02/2021 11:50

In my mind if you want to call your child August you should be aiming for an appropriate due date. As far as I am concerned this child is called February.

Because all the best people are born in February.

Fascinationends · 20/02/2021 11:46

Isn't someone's child called Autumn? (Royal family member rather than in the whole world). If so, bit similar I think.

MoorHeather · 20/02/2021 11:34

Very handsome! Personally, I like it a lot.

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 11:01

I would be slightly unsure as to pronunciation.

So like the month? like the adjective? in a quasi German way saying "Ow" at the start?

It would seem too much to wade in with Gus. I'd maybe go with Prince.😄

WonkyCactus · 20/02/2021 10:57

Oh dear. I thought that was another guess at first! Still, Gus is a cute nickname.

AdaColeman · 20/02/2021 10:56

Nice that they have included Philip, but I don't like the rest of it. I see they have not included Stamp which apparently is a Brooksbank family name, so a snub to his family history.

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 10:53

I think Augustus flows better but probably just because I'm used to it.
( In an Augustus Caesar way not like "that guy Augustus down the road"!😄)

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2021 10:52

As a name, is it pronounced au-GUST, like the adjective?

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/02/2021 10:50

@OldRailer

Makes me think Gussie Fink-Nottle. I may have misremembered that character name though!
You’ve remembered it correctly! I think he was an Augustus.
