The only thing that worked on cradle cap for us was coconut oil.

alwayslemons · 11/02/2021 11:20

@Wanderlust20

Too early to tell so I wouldn't worry! Looks like a light golden brown to me.
Worry about what?! Why would anyone worry about what colour their child's hair might turn out to be?
alwayslemons · 11/02/2021 11:19

It has a reddish tint to it but could turn out to be anything in the fullness of time - red, brown, blonde, strawberry blonde. Can I ask why you're asking...?

Lindy2 · 10/02/2021 21:39

It's baby's eyebrows that will give the best indication of future hair colour at this age.

My daughters both looked like this. It thought they would both be red heads but it's just the brown baby hair mixing with blonde hair coming through I think. It gives it a ginger look, my eldest was blonde. My youngest looks about the same age as yours and her head looks exactly the same!

Ewanthescreamsheep · 10/02/2021 08:02

Wow.
Can only speak for myself, but only mentioned the cradle cap, as that was what looked to be giving the gingery tinge, rather than the hair itself.
Not criticising; it's totally normal.

CorianderBee · 09/02/2021 17:42

Neither, it's brown

SatsumasOrClementines · 09/02/2021 16:14

A troll, really? About hair colour? What a weird thing to troll about.

Pinkblueberry · 09/02/2021 14:47

Re- cradle cap, there’s barely anything to see there! I wouldn’t let others worry you about that.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/02/2021 12:59

I was just reading it. GFery

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/02/2021 12:58

Ah, not a huge surprise

myrtleWilson · 09/02/2021 12:58

Mandy's other thread has now been deleted as a troll....

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/02/2021 12:50

Bog std, not big std.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/02/2021 12:49

Why is this in ‘baby names’?

FWIW, that looks like a big std, mild case of cradle cap to me. A specialised cradle cap shampoo like Dentinox or Mustela cradle cap shampoo should clear it. If you use oils like coconut or almond, make sure you are shampooing them off and not leaving them on overnight or long term as they can make it worse.

Her hair looks brown/mouse with a reddish tinge to me. Congratulations on your new baby Smile

Pinkblueberry · 09/02/2021 12:38

Aren’t ginger and strawberry blonde the same thing?

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 12:37

@Reinventinganna thanks
I will try that at bath time later today. I
Google some pictures of cradle
Cap and I can see how bad it can get so
I definitely
Want to nip that in bud right away. Thanks

@mandyxx we used warm (not hot) olive oil.

Hoowhoowho · 09/02/2021 12:23

Mine both had similar colour hair as babies and cradle cap which makes it look gingery (I didn’t bother treating the cradle cap, it goes on its own eventually)
At 4, DS has gone strawberry blonde, gold blonde and now dark blonde. I think he’ll go dark brown with reddish tints like his dad
At 2 DD2 is strawberry blonde and I imagine she’ll head the same way as DS.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 12:16

Reinventinganna, do you recommend something else? I saw some
Special shampoos on Amazon but haven’t purchased yet, I just used Johnson’s baby oil at first, then comb off flakes etc and someone said use coconut oil so
I tried that. but what is best to
Use? At first I thought it just dry skin? Any advice be much appreciated thanks.

Be careful with coconut oil on cradle cap.

catinbootsx · 09/02/2021 12:08
Grin
mandyxx · 09/02/2021 12:06

Can you explain why you find me rude? I think you are the rude one coming onto my post and being nasty. God who knew asking what colour people think my baby girl hair is would trigger such toxicity.

Longtalljosie · 09/02/2021 11:49

Speaking as the mother of two redheads, I find you pretty bloody rude. Give your head a wobble.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 11:43

Myself and partner have dark hair too. Maybe our baby girl will go dark too haha
