Sister for Cora

countrystumpkin · 05/02/2021 21:48

Baby due in a few weeks and really struggling with girl names. Boy name is picked but need help with girl names.

Have a daughter called Cora and our surname is quite long so a nice short name with similar feel to Cora would be ideal. Thanks for any suggestions!

I feel like I say this ALL the time but I love Astrid - Cora and Astrid.

Also someone further up said Nancy which is lovely.

@Ecetera - dp and I did actually discus those options when naming our Cora Smile. I also like Eska and Asami.

Names we like from the suggestions are:

Etta
Lyla/Lila/Lilah (not sure on spelling)
Margot

Also like Ivy and Mabel but can't use because of relatives using the name.

Really helpful so far!

Glad the suggestions have been helpful!

Otto is a great pick @countrystumpkin
Rafe nice too but quite a lot of names get shortened to Raffy (Rafferty, Raphael, Rafe, Ralph) so feels less special than Otto to me.

HenriettaHeffalump · 06/02/2021 21:25

Oh Cora and Elspeth are lovely! Shorten to Elsie maybe?

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 20:21

What about Fawn? Or Elspeth?

TaraR2020 · 06/02/2021 20:13

The boy names we'd decided on were either Otto or Rafe (just would wait until birth to see which he suited more. Some good ideas so far!

I would pick a name with a similar Downton Abbey vibe :) In the Baby Name Wizard, names with the same style as Cora are Ada, Alice, Mary, Penelope, Hazel, Audrey, Adele, Esme.
