Alice by far!! (Although I'm biased as that's what we're planning on naming our DD).

Ava, Grace, Isla - these are really overused, and all really date to this era.

Daisy I like, but it’s not a very substantial name. If you love it though, go for it! I know a very elegant Daisy and it really suits her. It can work.

Alice I really dislike - seems so prissy and I don’t like Al for a girl (or anyone really!)

My choice wouldn’t be Sophia, which is also overused and dated to now, but the much simpler and more classic Sophie - which kind of has the same pretty light feel as Daisy in a way.

I think that Alice, Sophia, Grace and to some extent, Daisy (nn for Margaret), have a timeless appeal. Sophia is overused as a first name and Grace as a middle name, which puts me off them. Daisy falls into the flower name trend.

I don't like Ava at all. Isla is pretty but will date.

Bruce2 · 05/02/2021 09:06

Alice

The rest are very nice & pretty but too popular for my liking. Could tell you about 3 girls of each name in DC's school/clubs.

Daisy is only name I only know of one but it's too twee for me.

Five67Eight · 05/02/2021 06:56

The only vaguely timeless one on the list is Alice.

Every single other one of those names will date to the current era, in the exact same way that Joanne, Sarah, Rachel, Karen, Nicola, Angela, et al date to my era.

You may have only gone to school with one of those girls, but you all know that those names are very dated to a certain era.

Sophia

Amdone123 · 05/02/2021 06:38

Isla is lovely.
People say it's so popular, but I don't know any. Never taught one either.
Though I do know an Ayla, which is lovely, too.
I like Ava. Again, apparently so popular but I only know 1.

Chunkymenrock · 05/02/2021 06:13

Sophia if I had to, but they're all so common, plain and unremarkable I'm afraid.

Minnie6078 · 05/02/2021 05:52

Daisy

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 05/02/2021 05:39

Daisy!

ButtonMoonPie · 04/02/2021 21:01

Isla is lovely. I would have picked it but my niece has that name

Fireflies33 · 04/02/2021 20:58

Or even Alice!

Fireflies33 · 04/02/2021 20:58

Alive is my favourite

danascully96 · 04/02/2021 20:48

Isla and Sophia are the best to me Smile

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 04/02/2021 20:46

Alice ❤️

Opticabbage · 04/02/2021 20:01

I swear every other little girl is called Isla around here. That's probably why that one family changed it to Izzy!

CormoranStrike · 04/02/2021 19:35

Grace

Daisy829 · 04/02/2021 19:03

Alice

AugustRose · 04/02/2021 19:00

Alice or Isla

NorbertMeubles · 04/02/2021 18:56

Alice is beautiful

Spied · 04/02/2021 18:51

Love Alice and Grace

Standrewsschool · 04/02/2021 18:50

Isla

KirstenBlest · 04/02/2021 18:49

You don't really have much control over nn.

If you name your DC something quite unusual and hard to shorten, kids will find a way to make a related nn.
it used to be adding a z to the first syllable in my day, so you'd get nn like Kaz, Caz, Mollz, Linz etc.

PuffItsGone · 04/02/2021 18:38

Isla. And definitely wouldn’t worry about the Izzy comment, that’s the only time I’ve ever heard of that and doesn’t seem a natural nickname to me
