Is this name too sexy?

We are due a baby girl and have always loved the name Ruby, it has sentimental family connections...but coupled with our surname I'm just not sure. Her name would be Ruby Hart does she sound like a burlesque performer? Nothing wrong with that profession, but not sure I want it connected to a baby and would she be taken seriously as an adult?

What do you think?

I’d personally also avoid all S names to avoid S.Hart.

Avoid Fiona too Wink

Weirdfan · 03/02/2021 12:36

I really like it, quirky and will be kind of cool when she's older I think.

Londontown12 · 03/02/2021 12:35

I think that’s gorgeous x

Greenknees · 03/02/2021 12:32

I think it’s lovely. I guess the association is rocky hart from Chicago? Nobody would give it a second thought in real life

hollieberrie · 03/02/2021 12:31

I love it! I used to be a primary school teacher and honestly it would never have occurred to me to think a child's name sounded like a stripper. I don't think anyone would think that at all so don't let that influence your choice. It's an awesome name.

babbaloushka · 03/02/2021 12:26

I love it personally, I think they go great together and imagine she'd get complimented on it.

MintyCedric · 03/02/2021 12:23

I kind of like that it's a bit quirky and definitely memorable.

Honestly you, and others will just end up associating the name with who your daughter is as a person rather than what it sounds like in abstract.

It flows really well I think...if you're still a bit concerned give her a really boring middle name just in case she wants to be a barrister or professor of theology when she grown up Grin.

Jenda · 03/02/2021 12:20

I love it!

MurrayTheMonk · 03/02/2021 12:19

I think it's a great name!

bunhead34 · 03/02/2021 12:19

I love it!

Newgirls · 03/02/2021 12:19

It’s cool

Bit valentines? If she’s due soon? Eg like ruby red heart?!

Allthekingshorses92 · 03/02/2021 12:17

I really like it and think it’s a strong sounding name. Ruby did have a surge in popularity a little while ago, but that’s because it’s a lovely name and that wouldn’t put me off at all.

Spied · 03/02/2021 12:17

Go for S.Hart.
Far from sexy Grin

borntohula · 03/02/2021 12:16

I think it sounds lovely tbh, 'Ruby' isn't too unusual nor is it super common and 'Hart,' as pp said, is a generic enough surname. 'Ruby Hart' would make me think nothing more than 'that's a pretty name.' 🤷‍♀️

Scarby9 · 03/02/2021 12:16

PS. Roxie Hart is also a great name.

dottiedodah · 03/02/2021 12:16

I quite like it TBH! Dont think it sounds like a Stripper! When has Ruby "had its day"? This is an old name been going for years surely!

SillyOldMummy · 03/02/2021 12:16

No it isnt too sexy. I like it a lot. Some people might raise eyebrows but I'd love to have that name myself. I think it's fab.

Scarby9 · 03/02/2021 12:15

I think it is a great name. Stick with it.

bibbidybobbidyboo · 03/02/2021 12:15

Makes me think of Roxie Hart in Chicago

FelicityPike · 03/02/2021 12:14

I think it sounds absolutely fine!!
Jesus some folk!

alltheadrenalin · 03/02/2021 12:13

I love it! Picturing a double agent burlesque dancer, fighting crime by day and feathers at night

Bluntness100 · 03/02/2021 12:13

I don’t think it’s sexy but I do think it sounds like a name of a character in a crap detective novel. I’d think again to be honest.

borntohula · 03/02/2021 12:12

@YoniAndGuy

Hmmmm Ruby's a bit naff now, it had its moment. Yep I think Ruby Hart does sound a bit 'take the first letter of your surname... to make your stripper name' things. Sorry, you did ask! Heart = is red = is Ruby - it does sound a bit much. I wouldn't.
'It has sentimental family connections'

'It's a bit naff'

Niiice. Hmm

Firebird83 · 03/02/2021 12:10

It does sound like a stage name.

starkid · 03/02/2021 12:05

Maybe as a middle name, but as a first name with the surname is does sound like a fictional character/stage name etc
