I don’t know what we are expecting as keeping it a surprise but D day is drawing nearer. Have chosen a boys name but not sure on girls names yet.

Harriet in birth certificate but Hattie to us straight away...thoughts?

Gorgeous!

User57392985 · 19/02/2021 07:56

Oh didn’t see your Daisy update 😄 lovely choice!

User57392985 · 19/02/2021 07:56

My name is Harriet Alice 💁🏻‍♀️ Quite like my own name if that’s helpful to you! I’m a Harry rather than Hattie though. Also my DS is ‘longname’ on BC but has gone by an unusual shortening from before birth, we haven’t had any problems, just be firm if people try and deviate!

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 19/02/2021 05:01

Love Hattie & Harriet for bc , it goes really well with Daisy too .

mumandcub · 19/02/2021 04:12

I do like Harriet Daisy, just because when I found out I was pregnant I felt like Daisy was very much a ‘sign’. DH bought me Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume and I remember buying a car air freshener that had daisies over it (random I know) but loved the smell every time I got in the car. Almost felt like I started to associate the pregnancy with Daisy but didn’t want as a first name just because I feel it can be ‘outgrown’ after childhood. I think Harriet Daisy is the one! Baby will probably be a boy now though 🤣

As for your middle names choices:
Daisy is cutesy but actually works quite well with Harriet (since it's such a classic name).
Ellen is a little dull/sensible sounding to me with Harriet.
Alice doesn't sound that good with Harriet ("ah" sounds too close together?).
Freya would be a great option - Harriet Freya combines classic with more trendy/popular (and it has a nice flow imo),

WrongendoftheSTIX · 18/02/2021 16:47

This was on my list for DD. We would have gone for :
Harriet Delilah or Harriet Pearl

It's a lovely name

Harriet, nn Hattie, is great.

As much as I love Alice I don't love it as a middle name to Harriet as the sounds HARriet ALice is a bit repetitive. Harriet Ellen is great and actually I really like Harriet Daisy (and I'm not normally a massive fan of Daisy, but combined with Harriet is really lovely).

Harriet Lara is also nice, or Harriet Amy?

SE13Mummy · 01/02/2021 17:20

Harriet nn Hattie is a great name. I know a teenaged Hattie (Harriet officially) and a couple of under 5-year-old ones too so it doesn't feel overused to me and I like the flexibility of it as a name e.g. your DD could choose to be Harrie/Harry instead when she's older.

Of your middle names, I like Daisy the most. Although I love the name Alice, I think Harriet Alice sounds a bit like Harrier Tallis. Other middle names I think go well include Primrose, Mary, Claire, Susan, Ruth.

Harriet Alice

Dotinthecity · 01/02/2021 10:58

I love Harriet and Hattie as a nickname. I think it’s underused.

Volcanoexplorer · 01/02/2021 10:56

I love this and would have considered it for dd, but a family friend who we see fairly regularly already has a Hattie.

reprehensibleme · 01/02/2021 10:53

Love it - Harriet is a beautiful name and Hattie is a great nickname.

Bluespace · 01/02/2021 10:48

I’ve got a Harriet nn. Hattie Rose

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/02/2021 09:32

Love it!

@CuddlyDudley71

I have a Hattie Hope-Hattie on birth certificate-22yrs now. Never had another Hattie at school, college or Uni.She is known as Hats, Hattie-tat! She has always loved her name, as have we.
I misread that and thought she was Hope-Hattie double barrelled!
Disfordarkchocolate · 01/02/2021 08:37

I love Hattie.

Harriet Alice is beautiful

mumandcub · 01/02/2021 08:26

Thank you all 😊 it’s one of the only names me and DH have agreed on so far.

Thoughts on middle names...
Harriet Daisy
Harriet Ellen
Harriet Alice
Harriet Freya

We have a long surname so would rather not have a long middle name.

As a nickname for Harriet (which I love) I like it.

Ebee19 · 31/01/2021 23:22

100% love Harriet/Hattie - perfect name and suits every age and setting. She also has alternative nicknames for different phases which always good :)

zigaziga · 31/01/2021 23:03

Oh I LOVE Harriet with Hattie as a nn.

DramaAlpaca · 31/01/2021 22:58

Very nice.
