Do you ‘love’ your boys name?

Due a boy in ten weeks and super excited. Before we knew the sex we talked a lot about names and fixed on a girl name quite quickly and I absolutely loved it. I felt excited to use it and tell people.
Things got tricker when we found out he was a boy as I just find boys names so ‘blah’. It’s seems from this board that lots of people have also struggled with boys names. I want something that is not crazy or eyebrow raising but equally not too traditional and (in my opinion) boring. There are hundreds of girls names in this category but so few boys ones. When people ask for suggestions of this type of name the same ones are always suggested.
Anyway, we have picked a name and I do really like it, as does DH. We have been calling him by his name at home for weeks and have gotten used to it. I just can’t shake this feeling that I like it but don’t ‘love’ it.

Is this normal? Will I love it when he arrives and it become associated with my little boy? Or should I be rethinking?

Did you ‘love’ the name you picked or have picked for your boy?

I love my sons name but I chose it after he was born. We had a short list of 3 while I was pregnant. They were all lovely but none of them felt perfect. Once he was born we both just felt straight away that none of them fit him, so he was nameless for about 5 days before we found the right name. Funnily enough it was one we'd rejected previously as being too unusual but we absolutely love it and I can't imagine him being anything else.

Conversely we had my daughters name picked out very quickly after we found out her sex and never had any doubts about it.

I love all of the names we have used for our sons and a good few more! One that DH hated, one that we both love but couldn't use with our surname because it would sound like we were naming him after someone we really did not want to name a child after, others that just didn't work in terms of both families being able to pronounce them, etc.

With ds3, we had decided on a name on learning his sex at the anomaly scan but with a few weeks to go realised it wasn't the right one and chose another. We used the original as his middle name though, because we both love it.

I love lots of girls names too but have no daughters and never will now.

Yeh I loveeee my sons name! I was the different way around, had one boys name in mind but 12 girls names. My sons name has a family tie and it just felt right.

Yes, my two are 16 and 18 now and I still have little arguments with myself about which of their names I love more Grin

I couldn’t find any boy names that I liked when I was pregnant
My partner really liked one and we ended up going with that as I “didn’t mind” it
However, I can’t imagine my DS being called anything else now and I love the name!
Also havent come across any other boys with the same name (not that it’s weird name or anything lol)
