Hi all, I have a baby due in April and my two top girls' names are Rae and Wren. Just wondering which people prefer? Thanks!

Rae too masculine and granddaddy

Hersetta427 · 28/01/2021 19:51

Sorry don't like either- both sound like you are trying too hard to be different. If you pinned me down and held a gun to my head I would pick wren because at least it's not a grandad's name.

SummerHouse · 28/01/2021 19:47

Rae for me.

marriednotdead · 28/01/2021 19:45

I've only ever known one Rae (who is lovely) but I think the name is coming back into vogue after the singer.
Prefer it to Wren as a name, perhaps because of the kitchen association...
Do you like the name Robyn?

FatkinsDiet · 28/01/2021 19:42

Wren, definitely

Snapcat · 28/01/2021 19:41

Both are lovely. I wouldn’t be able to choose between them.

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 19:31

Neither really, I find Wren just nothing-y - because the w is silent I just think of ren. Rae I think is just a naff filler middle name.

Robin is quite nice...

Firebird83 · 28/01/2021 19:23

Neither! Wren if I had to pick.

Chunkymenrock · 28/01/2021 19:15

Wren is ok, Rae I really dislike I'm afraid. It's a bit meaningless and sounds like an old darts playing man (Ray.)

Blondiney · 28/01/2021 19:15

Rae is lovely.

Tigertigertigertiger · 28/01/2021 19:09

I looove them ! Especially Rae

calimommy · 28/01/2021 19:08

It seems v trendy to do 'ae' names atm. I find them a bit meh tbh. Wren would be my preference of the two.

Twickerhun · 28/01/2021 18:59

I like Rae

Divebar · 28/01/2021 18:53

I love Wren but don’t dislike Rae either.

Marrilou · 28/01/2021 18:50

Oo that's interesting that Wren seems more popular, for some reason thought people would generally favour Rae over it!

Wren

SingingSands · 28/01/2021 15:51

Wren seems to be everywhere all of a sudden. I think it looks better than it sounds. "Ren" just doesn't sound great.

Rae is the nicer of the two. I work with a Raya which is close and nicer still.

Peach1886 · 28/01/2021 15:46

I think they're both lovely, we had wren on our shortlist for a good while, but took it off because neither me nor DH is particularly small, so there was a good chance a DD would be too well built to carry it off!

Raindancer411 · 28/01/2021 15:44

My little may born is Wren, so I am bias lol

FenEel · 28/01/2021 15:43

Wren is a little brown bird

Rowan and Willow are trees, Poppy and Daisy are flowers, Holly is a plant, April is a month, doesn't stop any of them from also being names...

WisestIsShe · 28/01/2021 15:43

Wren is lovely.

Stoater · 28/01/2021 15:43

I have a friend with a little girl called Wren. Its a gorgeous name.

FenEel · 28/01/2021 15:42

I prefer Wren. I am bad at pronouncing Rs though so couldn't use either of them myself!

Angel2702 · 28/01/2021 15:41

Wren

user1493494961 · 28/01/2021 15:40

I don't like either. Rae seems to be the new 'go to' middle name and Wren is a little brown bird.
