Do these work for twins?

We are expecting twin boys and our top boy names have always been Rory and Blair. We think they would be nice on twins as they seem to have a similar vibe without being very matchy.

What do you think?

Middle names are still not set in stone but we would probably go with something traditional like Alexander, Lewis, etc,

Love Rory! Agree that Blair is usually a girls name. With Rory, I'd pair Jasper or Felix.

Nell96 · 27/01/2021 13:22

Rory's a lovely name. I dislike Blair - it reminds me of Tony Blair, not a good association. How about:

Rory and Ewan
Rory and Euan
Rory and Rowan
Rory and Fraser
Rory and Aidan
Rory and Joel
Rory and Jack
Rory and Finn
Rory and Arran

Rory Alexander & Blair Lewis!!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍❤️👊👊👊
Best boy twin names ever!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 26/01/2021 23:49

Rory is fine if you are Scottish/Scots heritage (where I think it's a more classic name), although I find it slightly cute sounding personally in England/Wales. I'm not keen on Blair though - it's not a particularly nice sounding name/surname to me. I much prefer similar Scottish surname as given name Fraser, if that's your taste?

I love your middle name choices Alexander (or Alasdair/Alistair) and Lewis though! I'd use them as first names.

calimommy · 26/01/2021 21:15

Rory & Blair are lovely names and I think they are well suited together. I only know male Blair's and I think it is more suitable as a traditional male name -not that it seems to really stop anyone using any manner of names for either lately.
Another nice combination (and a family I know) is Spencer & Blair.

KirstenBlest · 26/01/2021 20:19

It won't be just me thinking it.

The rhotic r changes how it sounds in a scottish accent, and it is much nicer.

It's almost like Bleyrr.

LadyCatStark · 26/01/2021 20:17

I love, love, love Rory but together they sound like one name; Rory Blair. When you shout them both, people will wonder what the other one is called!

Subordinateclause · 26/01/2021 20:15

Are you in Scotland? Blair is definitely a boy's name there, it really wouldn't be considered odd. I think it's sometimes hard for English posters to appreciate how different Scotland is in certain ways. I think the names go very well together.

IthinkIm · 26/01/2021 20:14

Can't get past Tony.

LostInTheColonies · 26/01/2021 20:13

I only know male Blairs, thank goodness - categorically a boys name Grin. Awesome name (esp. as it's the name of DBro).

What about:
Rory and Euan
Rory and Angus

SleepingStandingUp · 26/01/2021 20:12

@KirstenBlest

Roary and Blare?
Tbf, I have twin boys. That would totally work here.
sleepingfox · 26/01/2021 20:11

I also see Blair as a girls name (possibly because of Blair Waldorf) but other than that I think Rory and Blair go well together.

Ellieboolou33 · 26/01/2021 20:06

Blair is awful, it reminds me of the noises my children make when I've cooked something they don't like.
Rory is ok

CovidCakeConundrum · 26/01/2021 19:54

Blair is an American girls name to me. On a boy it makes me think on Tony 🤮
Rory is fine, although a very common dog/pony name here.

Oliphanto · 26/01/2021 19:50

Lovely - make me assume Scotland. Work well together.

DreamyDreamer333 · 26/01/2021 19:50

I like Rory not keen on Blair. Maybe
Lewis
Cameron
Alexander or Alex
James

Tryingtryingandtrying · 26/01/2021 19:48

Kester is a great name, not heard of it before

Chickenwing · 26/01/2021 19:46

Love both!

cherrypop86 · 26/01/2021 19:43

I hate Rory. Blair just reminds me of Tony Blair

percheron67 · 26/01/2021 19:32

Rory is fine. I think of Blair as a surname.

Jenxna · 26/01/2021 19:24

I love them! I know two male Blairs and think of it more as a boys name

KirstenBlest · 26/01/2021 19:20

Roary and Blare?

ILoveStickers · 26/01/2021 19:20

I think they work.

Blair is a girl's name in the USA, but I don't think it would read that way here. And Rory is downright unisex in the state's now, so I think they have a similar vibe from that point of view actually.

I love Rory. Blair wouldn't be my choice, but I like that it sounds different while being a similar length / not clashing.

Firebird83 · 26/01/2021 19:19

I’m guessing you’re Scottish? They’re great names and go well together.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/01/2021 19:17

but Blair sounds like Blare in some accents they're literally the same sound. How do you differentiate??

Anyway op o think they're fine, you love them, your twins will be seperate individuals, the names are perfect
